ViewSonic VSD240 smart display announced with Jelly Bean
Believe it or not, that 24-inch Android tablet actually exists. Granted, it’s not here yet, but soon it will be. It’s called the ViewSonic VSD240 smart display, and it has just been announced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It’s a follow-up to last year’s ViewSonic VSD220. This year’s VSD240 ups the screen size from just 22-inches to a full 24.
Hardware-wise, it’s quite impressive, featuring a 24-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD touchscreen display, a 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, HDMI-out, built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an Ethernet port, a webcam, and an SD card reader. It also comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean pre-installed, which is what makes it suitable for use as an oversized Android tablet in the first place.
ViewSonic aims to convince the world that it has created more than just another supersized Android tablet. The ViewSonic VSD240 is billed as a powerful Android-powered smart display that’s capable of giving some all-in-one PC models a run for their money. It’s set to arrive in North America some time in April of 2013 with a $499 price tag.
