Verizon Moto G launches at Best Buy for $99.99, off-contract

As rumored, the phone is indeed selling at $99.99 at Best Buy, and it doesn’t require users to sign-up for a new two-year contract with Verizon, the LA Times has learned:

“The phone is currently landing in stores and is available for sale as soon as it arrives,” Best Buy spokesman Jonathan Sandler told The Times.

It’s not clear at this time what Verizon Moto G version costs $99.99, the 8GB or the 16GB model. Normally, the Moto G would sell without a contract for $179 or $199, depending on capacity.

As for Verizon, the carrier is not yet taking Moto G orders on its website, even though Best Buy is selling the handset in its retail stores, Best Buy Mobile stores included. Interestingly, Best Buy is not taking online orders for the Moto G either at the moment although that may soon change.

A second image leak suggested that the phone will start selling on January 9, at least from Best Buy, but it looks like the retailer may have changed its mind – that may still be the official launch date for Verizon, although that’s yet to be determined.
