The Motorola Moto Z Oreo update is rolling out to unlocked US variants

You may already have a notification for the update as you read this. But if not, you can simply head to Settings > About phone > Software Update > Check for updates.

Keep in mind, that to update your Moto Z to Android 8.0 Oreo, you’ll need to be connected to Wi-Fi and have at least 50% battery. Ideally, your phone will be charging during the update just to be safe.

Weighing in at 1.4GB, the Android 8.0 Oreo update brings all the usual Oreo features to the Moto Z, including picture-in-picture, notification dots, and support for Android Instant Apps. It also brings the latest security patch (up to March 1, anyway) and what Motorola refers to as “stability improvements.”

The phone supports the Moto Mods line of smartphone snap-on enhancements, which are much-loved in the Motorola community. However, it has had its fair share of issues, which we rounded up in this article.
