Tapped Out finally available in Google Play

An animated franchise so funny, ingenious and always fresh like The Simpsons needed an equally as fun Android game ten Emmy Awards ago, but instead all we ever got from Homer& co. was trivia games. And some unofficial dumb puzzlers. And let’s not forget wallpapers.

But enough of that, as Electronic Arts have finally unleashed The Simpsons: Tapped Out unto Google Play. A little late considering the exact same game has been up for grabs in Apple’s iTunes for almost a year, but we should probably let bygones be bygones, right?

The thing is, even after all this waiting and preparation, EA wasn’t able to iron out all the kinks before making the Android game available for download. Hence, it seems that a lot of people, especially in the US, are unable to make it work on their devices. Not cool, EA, not cool at all!

Still, we can see the glass half full (or at least a quarter full) if we really want to. After all, the game is available for free and that’s a good thing. The premise also sounds entertaining, as you’ll need to rebuild Springfield after an accidental meltdown caused by none other than Homer Simpson.

The HD graphics look decent, you get original content from the writers and animators of The Simpsons and, last but not least, the characters are voiced by Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria and the rest of the gang.

As is the case with free to play titles, you’ll have in-app purchases at your disposal to complete tasks easier and earn… donuts, but try not to d’oh your way through these and end up 1,000 bucks poorer, like Homer in the hilarious video clip below. Let the tapping begin!
