Snapdragon 805, 2560x1440 display, 225Mbps LTE
Samsung just made the long rumored Galaxy S5 LTE-A official in South Korea. Like its predecessor, the S4 LTE-A, this device will likely remain a South Korean exclusive, and boy we have reasons to be jealous.
The Galaxy S5 LTE (which appears to be the long rumored S5 Prime) is the first device on the market to pack a Snapdragon 805 processor, rocking Krait 450 cores, 3GB of RAM, and impressive 225Mbps LTE-Advanced network speeds. There’s 32GB internal storage and support for 128GB microSD card.
Another highlight feature is the display: the S5 LTE-A features a 5.1-inch 2560×1440 WQHD Super AMOLED display, for a record breaking 577ppi, edging out the LG G3, which features the same resolution in a slightly larger format.
From the looks of it, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S5 LTE-A in South Korea through SK Telecom for about 940,500 won (roughly US$920) this summer. Color options will include Charcoal Black, Shimmer White, Electric Blue, Copper Gold, Sweet Pink and Glam Red.
Rounding out the specs, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A comes in at 145g at 8.1mm thick. It will come with Android 4.4 KitKat installed, IP67 certification, which means dust and waterproofing, and the typical Samsung software options.
One big question is battery life, and we look forward to see if the 2800mAh unit can stand up to the new screen resolution and those fast LTE-A internet speeds.
