Samsung’s Galaxy 11 campaign introduces another soccer-themed video

Back in November of last year Samsung kicked off a new campaign called “Galaxy 11”, which deals with the story of 11 football (soccer) stars that come together in order to drive off alien invaders using the power of football, while also utilizing various Galaxy devices along the way.

As we noted when the campaign came out, dramatic and semi-strange campaigns and advertisements are nothing new for Samsung, but judging by the company’s continued success in the world of Android — this type of advertising works. In the latest video, the Galaxy 11 team begins training for the epic battle ahead, using the Galaxy S5, Fit and Gear 2 to get through obstacles.

Obviously soccer also is a reoccuring theme throughout the nearly 4 1/2 minute long video. The team consists of the following members: Lionel Messi (Argentina), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Wayne Rooney (England), Landon Donovan (US), Mario Gotze (Germany), Iker Casillas (Spain), Oscar dos Santos (Brazil), Stephan El Shaarawy (Italy), Wu Lei (China), Victor Moses (Nigeria), Radamel Falcao (Colombia) and Lee Chung-Yong (South Korea).

In addition to video advertisements, the campaign also has four games in total. Three of these games are exclusively for the Galaxy S5: Cannon Shooter, Soccer Wars and Shooting Soccer. The fourth is called The Match: Striker Soccer Galaxy 11 and is available to all Android users via Google Play.

What do you think of Samsung’s alien/soccer-themed campaign, catchy advertising or way too over the top? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
