Samsung readying KNOX security for the Galaxy S4 in Europe

SamMobile insiders have discovered that the Samsung is currently preparing the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505, that’s the more common Snapdragon 600 version found in Europe and a few other regions, for KNOX support.

KNOX is Samsung’s proprietary security suite, which offers a range of features from Security Enhanced Android, secure booting, and an application container, among other similar features. Samsung originally announced KNOX at MWC earlier this year, and the comprehensive enterprise mobile solution was supposed to be included with the Galaxy S4 at launch, but was delayed whilst the company continued to test various features.

However, KNOX is expected to come pre-installed with the upcoming Galaxy Note 3, and could become a common feature in future high end products from Samsung, in a bid to improve the company’s standing in the business and enterprise markets.

There currently isn’t a confirmed release date for KNOX, but the initial delay report suggested that the suite would be rolling out this month, so Galaxy S4 owners shouldn’t have to wait more than a couple of weeks. From the sound of things, Europe looks set to receive the update first, and other regions with the GT-I9505 version of the S4 will probably follow shortly after. But we’re still awaiting word on the Exynos 5 Octa variant.
