Samsung Galaxy Pop SHV-E220S gets outed in South Korea

Of all the names that Samsung could’ve used for its latest high-end (or is it mid-range?) handset, it looks like those in South Korea will be introduced to the Galaxy Pop yet again, a phone whose design resembles the oft-delayed Galaxy Premier, but one that shares some similarity to the flagship Galaxy S3 in specs. Don’t mistake it for the old Pop, though.

If it weren’t for its design, the Galaxy Pop SHV-E220S might as well be known as the Galaxy S3 “Midi”. It still sports a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display like the Galaxy Premier, but the phone is powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos 4412 processor. Unlike the Premier, the Galaxy Pop comes with LTE connectivity.

Other specs of the phone include 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD slot,  8MP rear camera,  1.9MP front-facing camera, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 2,100mAh battery, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Not very exciting for 2013 standard, but it’s nothing to scoff at either.

There’s no word yet on when and if the international audience will get to meet the Samsung Galaxy Pop face to face, but the phone will reportedly make its debut on SK Telecom in South Korea. Hopefully, we’ll get some official confirmation from Samsung soon that this improved variant of the Galaxy Premier isn’t just a figment of anyone’s imagination.
