Samsung Galaxy Discover heading to StraightTalk and Net10

While the Canadian market has had it for a while now, the entry-level Samsung Galaxy Discover is now making its way to the United States via the prepaid carriers Straight Talk and Net10.

For those that don’t know, the Discover is a very basic smartphone powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm processor with just a 3.5-inch HVGA display. Other specs for the Discover include 2.7GB storage, microSD for expansion, a 3MP camera and a 1300mAh battery.

What really sets the U.S. version apart from what we’ve seen in Canada is the OS, though. While both versions come with Android 4.0, buyers in the United States get a stock Android experience. Yep, the phone will not feature TouchWiz in favor of a more vanilla approach.

The Samsung Galaxy Discover is clearly not for those that want tons of power out of their device, but could be perfect for first-time smartphone users, teens and those who simply don’t want to spend any more than they have to.

So how much will the Discover set you back and when is it coming? At the moment neither Straight Talk or Net10 has come forward with pricing or availability details. As far as costs are concerned though, it can be found in Canada for $99 outright, so odds are that it will price similarly stateside.

What do you think, a good deal at $99 or not?
