Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) leaked renders show rear triple camera

TL;DR

  • Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) hands-on images and press renders leak showing triple rear camera.
  • The phone also appears to feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
  • An official launch is expected on October 11.

Samsung recently promised that it would start bringing new technology and innovation to its mid-range phones before its flagships. It certainly looks like the South Korean giant will be staying true to its word if today’s Galaxy A7 (2018) leaks are anything to go by.

Based on a hands-on image and leaked press renders (thanks, GalaxyClub), it seems that the Galaxy A7 (2018) will feature a triple camera on the rear — a first for a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and potentially a sign of things to come with next year’s Galaxy S10.

Aside from the three-lens vertical camera module, which was rumored as far back as July, the latest A7 phone is expected to carry a similar spec sheet to last year’s Galaxy A8 Plus (via SamMobile). These include an Exynos 7885 SoC, up to 6GB RAM, and 64GB storage.

If you take a good look at the renders it’s possible to make out a slight indent on the right side of the phone which suggests the rumors were spot on. Unfortunately, those hoping to see an in-display sensor, which had also been rumored, look set to be disappointed.

The Galaxy A7 (2018) is expected to be unveiled at a Samsung event on October 11. Samsung has been teasing the showcase with camera-centric taglines like “capture the fun with Samsung” and “4 x fun.” The latter definitely seems to relate to the A7, which technically has four cameras in total when counting the selfie snapper.
