Samsung announces Galaxy Enterprise Edition smartphones

Samsung has announced Galaxy Enterprise Edition smartphones for business customers in the UK. These Galaxy phones will enhance security and provide more service support for corporate users.

Samsung notes that the Galaxy Enterprise Edition will be extended to other phones throughout the year.

The Enterprise advantage

Enterprise users of the above mentioned Galaxy phones will be entitled to a bunch of benefits.

One of the most notable advantages they’ll get is regular firmware updates. Samsung’s Enterprise Edition Galaxy smartphones will get four years of regular Android and Samsung security patches.

Compared to non-enterprise Samsung phones, the Enterprise Edition S and Note Series phones will get monthly updates for the first three years, then quarterly for the final year.

Regular Samsung flagships mostly go to the quarterly update schedule after the first two years. So technically, you could get an extra year of monthly updates on the enterprise phones.

The Best

Samsung says the A series and XCover 4S enterprise updates will be done quarterly for four years. In contrast, updates for regular mid-range Samsung phones usually fizzle out after two years.

Besides timely updates, Enterprise Edition Galaxy smartphones also get more control over Knox settings. Additionally, enterprises will have the ability to remotely update the OS across the entire Samsung fleet. An extended product lifecycle and three years of an enhanced service support are also bundled with the service.

For now, the availability of Samsung’s Enterprise Edition Galaxy phones seems limited to the UK. We’ll update this article if Samsung widens its scope.
