Nexus 7 (2012) 3G gets Android 5.1 factory image

The factory image has the same build number as the Wifi-only Nexus 7, LMY47D. As for what’s new here? As with any other Android 5.1 build, you can expect the update to be mostly bug fixes and performance tweaks, with a few very minor front-facing changes such a new “device protection mode” and changes to the interruption slider that makes the experience a little closer to the silent mode from KitKat that was removed in Lollipop.

To grab the factory image, you’ll want to head on over Google’s factory images page. If you aren’t sure how to flash a factory image, be sure to check out our walkthrough. While the guide was designed for Android 5.0 Lollipop, the same overall process should apply. Of course, remember that things can and sometimes do go wrong, so flash at your own risk.
