Mi Max 3 Pro coming? Snapdragon 710 tipped for leaked phablet

TL;DR

  • The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro is reportedly on the way, delivering more power than the standard Mi Max 3.
  • The Pro model purportedly leaked via Xiaomi’s website, tipped to launch with a Snapdragon 710 processor.
  • Aside from a more powerful chipset, the Pro variant seems to offer the same specs as the standard model.

We already know about Xiaomi’s supposed Mi Max 3 surfacing on China’s TENAA website, but an apparently deleted page on Xiaomi’s website (h/t: TechRadar) shows a Mi Max 3 Pro is coming.

The page wasn’t cached so we can’t verify it for ourselves, but the claimed specs include a new Snapdragon 710 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

The standard Mi Max 3 also has up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, but offers an unnamed 1.8Ghz processor that’s believed to be the Snapdragon 636. So the apparent Mi Max 3 Pro would get a big boost in power via the more capable Snapdragon 710 alone.

A larger, longer lasting Mi 8 SE?

Both models are expected to offer a massive 5,400mAh battery and 6.9-inch full HD+ display — a big screen and large battery are hallmarks of the Max range after all. We’re also expecting the Mi Max models to share a rear dual-camera setup (one will be a 12MP shooter), a 5MP front-facing camera, and Android 8.1.

The Best

If confirmed, this would be Xiaomi’s second device running the Snapdragon 710 chipset, following in the Mi 8 SE‘s footsteps. So if you want a powerful phone like the Mi 8 SE, but need more juice and a bigger screen, keep an eye on this phablet.

The Snapdragon 710 is positioned as a chipset for cheaper flagships, essentially a step above the upper mid-range Snapdragon 660 but one below the top-end Snapdragon 845. The new chipset packs two heavy-lifting cores and six power-efficient cores, AI functionality, and 4K recording capabilities.
