LG G Pro 2 vs LG G Flex
The LG G Flex is a one-of-a-kind device, being one of the first smartphones to feature a curved display. The LG Pro 2 may not be “unique,” but the top-end specifications, the gorgeous design, and the fantastic camera should be more than enough for us to look beyond the curve. How do the two compare? Here’s a quick look at the LG G Pro 2 vs LG G Flex!
Design
With a 5.9-inch display of the LG G Pro 2 and a 6-inch display of the G Flex, both are really big smartphones, and in our hands-on review of the G Flex, I’ve talked about how the curved display does make the size a little easier to handle. If you overlook the bend, the design aesthetics of both smartphones are actually quite similar, with the same rear placement of the button layout, along with the ultra-thin bezels that are quickly becoming an LG staple, that also make such large devices surprisingly easy to hold. The G Pro 2 features a matte-finish on the back, whereas the the G Flex boasts a self-healing material.
Display
The LG G Flex features a 6-inch 720p display, while the G Pro 2 packs a beautiful 5.9-inch 1080p display. The lower resolution of the G Flex isn’t as jarring as one might expect, but in a world where Full HD has become the norm, and talk of 2k is starting (fingers crossed for Monday), the 720p resolution is a little disappointing. The curve does provide a very subtle difference when it comes to media consumption. On the other hand, there are absolutely no complaints about the display of the G Pro 2, which offers deep color palettes, and is easily one of the best we’ve ever seen.
Hardware
The hardware across both devices is almost identical, with the exception of the availability of an extra gig of RAM with the G Pro 2. You also don’t get an expandable storage with the G Flex, but it does come with a decent 32 GB of storage. Both boast a 13 MP camera, but the additional features that the G Pro 2 camera comes with should make it better. The G Flex boasts a massive 3,500 mAh battery, while the G Pro 2 features a slightly smaller 3,200 mAh battery.
Overall, the G Flex can handle pretty much anything you throw at it, but the G Pro 2 does hold a slight edge over the G Flex as far as hardware is concerned.
Software
The G Flex and G Pro 2 runs LG’s well-known Optimus UI, which comes with several special features, but none that really makes use of the curved screen in the case of the G Flex. The closest you get to this is the scrolling of the lock screen when you tilt the phone, which doesn’t seem like the only use the curved display could be for.
The G Pro 2 introduces a lot of new software features, including Knock Code and Mini View along with a ton of camera software enhancements which should make the G Pro 2 one of the best Android camera phones around. The G Pro 2 will also come with Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box, while the G Flex currently runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Conclusions at a glance
To curve or not to curve. That is the main question that comes up when making a choice between the two smartphones. Even though the G Flex comes with a lower resolution display, it shouldn’t affect the experience in any way. If you’re looking for unique, the G Flex is the way to go, but if you’re looking for classic, and an overall fantastic experience, the G Pro 2 is your best bet.
