Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro price, availability, release date

Update, February 15, 2019 (3:17 pm EST): In a statement to Business Insider, Huawei confirmed that the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 X will not launch in the U.S. The Mate 10 Pro and Mate 9 were sold in the U.S., but relations between Huawei and the U.S. government have soured since then.

Folks in the U.S. can still import the new Mate 20 phones. Amazon has all three on sale, but they do not have a US warranty, and they are limited to GSM-based networks like AT&T and T-Mobile

This year is no different, as the Mate 20 series features the Kirin 980 chipset — the world’s first 7nm chipset to appear in an Android device. With the Kirin 980, Huawei promises faster speeds, better power efficiency, and more powerful AI integration. The 980’s Dual NPU allegedly will increase AI performance on the Mate 20 series by a whopping 134 percent.

Along with the chipset, the devices in the Huawei Mate 20 series feature top-tier specs in most other categories. However, as one would expect, those incredible specs are going to cost you. But how much will it set you back and when can you get it? Read on!

Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro release date

The Mate 20 series launched on October 16, 2018, and pre-orders began on the same day for the Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Huawei will start pre-orders for the Huawei Mate 20 X on October 26, 2018, and for the Porsche Design Mate 20 RS on November 16, 2018.

Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro price and availability

Last year, the Huawei Mate 10 launched with a price tag of 700 euros (~$812), while the Pro model went for 800 euros (~$928). Only the Mate 10 Pro made its way to the U.S., where it initially retailed for $800.

This year, Huawei raised the prices of both core models, which was expected, especially when you consider the introduction of the Kirin 980 and the camera improvements. The Huawei Mate 20 will start at 799 euros (~$927) while the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will start at 1,049 euros (~$1,217).

Huawei also introduced the Huawei Mate 20 X at its launch event, which is physically larger than the Mate 20 (with most of the same specs) and features an enormous 5,000mAh battery. It also features a cooling system to help with long gaming sessions. Its starting price is 899 euros (~$1,043),

Finally, there will be a Porsche Design edition of the Mate 20, just like with the Mate 10 and the P20 (sold as the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS). As usual, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 20 RS will be incredibly expensive, starting at 1,695 euros (~$1,966).
