HTC unleashes two dual-SIM phones, Desire V and Desire VC

Well, color us surprised! We know that HTC is releasing the entry-level Desire C soon. It turns out there are two more Desire models that the Taiwanese phone maker is preparing to push into the market. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, the Desire C is set to receive the company of the HTC Desire V and Desire VC. What of their specs?

There’s definitely some good surprises waiting for those who lament HTC’s decision to pack the Desire C with a 600MHz processor (in 2012, really?). Both the HTC Desire V and Desire VC will ship with a single-core 1GHz processor, which puts it nearer to the One V’s territory in terms of performance. The two mid-range phones will come with a 4-inch screen of 800 x 480 resolution, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, a 5MP rear camera, 1,650mAh battery, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

And yes, the headline is true. The HTC Desire V and Desire VC are dual-SIM phones. The Desire V allows you to use two GSM numbers on the phone, while the Desire VC comes with a hybrid GSM-CDMA dual-SIM capability. Speaking to DetikInet, HTC Indonesia head of product marketing Samudera Seto said that the Desire V will be priced at 3.25 million Rupiah (US$340), while the Desire VC will go for 3 million Rupiah ($317). Expect both phones to hit the market this month.

Given how popular the mid-range HTC One V is, we’re sure HTC will have no problem finding buyers for the Desire V and Desire VC. What do you think of the two phones?  Is the GSM-CDMA combo a first for a major manufacturer?
