HTC One V to come to several US carriers in summer

After the HTC One X and HTC One S, the last of the One series, HTC One V, has finally received a release window in the US. Aiming to grab a good slice of the low to mid-end range smartphone market in the US, HTC announced today that the One V will be launched this summer at “a variety of US partners.”

Despite packing the least exciting set of specs, the One V bears the hallmarks of HTC’s superfine build quality, much like the other One phones. The phone’s aluminum unibody is complemented by a 3.7-inch display protected by scratch-resistant reinforced glass, a single-core 1GHz Snapdragon S3 processor, a microSD card slot, and 1,500mAh battery.

The same great shooter found on the more expensive members of the One series can be found on the HTC One V, though it’s been scaled-down to a 5MP, f/2.0, back-illuminated sensor. Along with the omnipresent Beats Audio enhancement software, owners of the HTC One V get up to 25GB of Dropbox storage. And let’s not forget that the phone ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC Sense 4. Some of the phone’s downsides include its paltry 512MB of RAM, a smallish 4GB of internal storage, and the lack of a compass sensor.

While HTC hasn’t mentioned any specific pricing for the One V in the US, judging from how much the phone is selling for in other countries, we can probably expect it to retail for about $300 with no contract, which is also the rumored price for the HTC One V in Canada.

It does appear that the phone is heading towards the prepaid path, because soon after its introduction at Mobile World Congress in February, the names of budget carriers like Metro PCS, Virgin Mobile, and US Cellular have been thrown around as HTC’s partners in the US. The list is yet to be confirmed by the Taiwanese manufacturer and there’s a solid chance it will land on bigger carriers as well.

So, do you think the HTC One V is a keeper?
