How to control your music with Android Wear

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to control your music with Android Wear. There are a couple of ways to accomplish this depending on how you listen to your music. Control your music with Android Wear with the app itself

Many music apps such as Google Play Music have Android Wear support built in. If that’s the case, here’s how to control music.

  • Start listening to music on your Android device.
  • On your Android Wear device, you’ll see what looks like a notification with a play or pause button. Swipe up to access that.
  • Once the notification is full screen, swipe to the right (by swiping left on the screen) to access the various controls. Typically you’ll see pause, play, skip forward, and sometimes skip backward. Some may even let you adjust volume.

    • Control music with Android Wear using a third party app

    If you’re using a music app that doesn’t have Wear support, don’t fret! There is still a way you may be able to control music.

  • Download Wear Music Controller by clicking here. Read the instructions in the app description carefully to get it set up. It’s not difficult.
  • Once installed, you’ll need to access the app on your Android Wear device. Click on the home screen to bring up Voice Search, click on the up arrow, scroll down to Start and open Wear Music Controller.
  • Start listening to music on your Android device.
  • You can use Wear Music Controller like you can the music player controls in step 3 above.

    • That’s really it. It should be noted that Wear Music Controller is a 4-day trial and you’ll have to pay $1.98 once it’s over to keep the app. By then you should know if it works, if you want to keep it, or not. Once you get everything set up, it’s just a matter of repeating the last step whenever you listen to music!
