Google Pixel 4 wireless charging is fast on all docks

The Google Pixel 3 is capable of fast wireless charging, but only if you use the proprietary (and expensive) Google Pixel Stand. That’s kind of lame, but the good news is that the Google Pixel 4 wireless charging system isn’t limited in this way, so you can use third-party docks and pads and get those same speeds.

Granted, you’re still going to get faster speeds if you use a cable to charge your Pixel 4, but not by much. The Pixel 4’s cabled charging system gets up to 18W of power, while it can wirelessly charge at up to 11W. So really, the speeds are pretty close.

The Pixel 3, on the other hand, maxes out at just 5W of power when used with any wireless charging dock that isn’t the Pixel Stand. That’s basically a slow drip in this day and age where phones such as the OnePlus 7T can get up to 30W of power with a cable.

With the biggest gripe about the Pixel 4 so far being its poor battery life, the idea of getting some fast wireless charging on any dock you choose is definitely welcome news. We’re not sure if it’s going to make more people pre-order the device who have already moved on, but it should make those who are committed to the Pixel 4 happier with their decision.
