Google Jelly Bean Keyboard available in Google Play for any Android 4.0.3+ device
One of the things Google further improved in Jelly Bean is the default keyboard in order to offer a better reliability and performance, which make it compete with some of the best keyboard apps out there. Among the new features available from the Jelly Bean keyboard we’ll notice the improved predictive text support and a better dictionary. Furthermore, the new keyboard now supports 18 extra languages, which is certainly good news for international Android fans.
Even more importantly though, we’ll now tell you that the Jelly Bean keyboard is now available for all devices running Android 4.0.3 and higher as a free download from Google Play.
Sure, the Jelly Bean Keyboard – that’s the name of the app – doesn’t come officially from Google, but it’s essentially the same tool you’ll enjoy on Android 4.1 devices. However, the keyboard is a “first alpha port of the AOSP Jelly Bean keyboard” to ICS and it will be further improved by the developer.
Since it’s not an official Google release, there are some issues that need to be ironed out including:
- User dictionary doesn’t work on ICS (adding words will cause a fc)
- Only English, German, French, Spanish, Portugese (Brazil) and Russian supported
- Full word prediction and auto correction of missing spaces only supported for English.
