Airborne to launch in the Play Store on Aug. 22

Asphalt 7 is probably Gameloft’s most successful racer yet, and they’re looking to continue that success with Asphalt 8: Airborne, the game showcased on the Nexus 7 (2013) during the Android 4.3 and Nexus 7 unveiling in San Francisco a few weeks back. And from what we’ve seen of it so far, fans are in for a real treat.

The game was due to launch on Aug. 8, but due to delays, we’re looking at a new launch date — Aug. 22. If you’re really excited about the game, that can be a long time to wait. Of course, you do have a chance to get your hands on the game before it officially launches.

This is certainly going to be one of the hottest mobile games of the year, featuring OpenGL ES 3.0, the new 3D graphics standard in Android 4.3. Looking away from the technical side, Gameloft has plenty of content in Asphalt 8: Airborne. With 180 events, 47 licensed vehicles, and social integration, players are going to be able to spend a lot of time with this game.

One of the biggest questions surrounding this game is if it will support the new Google Play Games services. While there’s been no official confirmation, it’s highly likely. Gameloft brings a lot of games to Android, so it’d seem silly to not support such services. Regardless, we’ll just have to see what Gameloft has in store for us come Aug. 22.

Nonetheless, Asphalt 8: Airborne is going to be a wicked Android game! Are you excited about Gameloft’s newest offering? What are you looking forward to in the new game?
