Action Launcher update adds Adaptive folders, Essential Phone support and more

The popular Android smartphone launcher Action Launcher is rolling out a rather major update starting today. Version 31 of the app has some nice additions, including one that brings the cool adaptive icons over for folders as well.

Action Launcher added adaptive icon support, which was one of the big features in Android 8.0 Oreo, to devices that ran on Android 6.0 Lollipop and later. Now that feature, which allows the shape of icons to be changed across the whole operating system, can be added to folders via Action Launcher. In even better news, adaptive icon support is now available for all of Action launcher’s free users, instead of just the paid Plus owners.

Apps

Owners of the Essential Phone can now use Action Launcher for the first time with version 31. Also, it had added support for Google’s Product Sans font and it displays by default on the “At a glance” widget. You can use the font on all icons on your Android device. Oreo support for pinning widgets and shortcuts from external apps is available with this update as well.

You can check out the entire, and very long, patch notes for Action Launcher v31, which contains quite a few bug fixes and improvements as well. Speaking of which, the team has launched a new support site that will hopefully help with improvements in the app’s performance and stability when new versions are release. It’s also trying out a new system that will accept user support requests. Hopefully that means there will be fewer issues with the app when future versions are released.
