This could be our first look at the Moto G10 Play

TL;DR Leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer shared renders of what could be the Moto G10 Play. Tweaks include a new side-mounted fingerprint sensor and repositioned camera cutout. It was only in August that Motorola released the Moto G9 Play, but it looks like the company may already be prepping a successor to the budget device. On Monday morning, frequent leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer shared renders of a new phone, the XT-2117, he believes Motorola will market as the Moto G10 Play.

Verizon LG G2 set to feature exclusive wireless charging

Look at that sexy, super thin bezel. Just look at it. The LG G2 was launched last week and LG looked to have thrown everything in but the kitchen sink (although they might have found room for that too, only the teardowns can confirm). Turns out LG also skipped out on the inclusion of wireless charging as there was no mention of the feature at the event. However, the sign up site for the Verizon version of the LG G2 has revealed that the G2 will have wireless charging exclusively for the Verizon variant.

What’s new in MIUI 9

While there’s a big camp of Android users that prefer stock Android experience, there are also fans of customized UI layers that several OEMs ship their phones with. Xiaomi’s MIUI is one of the more popular ones, especially because Xiaomi adds several nifty little features and utilities over and above the Android experience. It’s interesting to note that Xiaomi started as a software company in 2010 and MIUI (based on Android 2.

You can now use YouTube Music with Android Auto

If you’re already playing music through YouTube Music, you’ll see the widget for it on the Android Auto home screen. Otherwise, you’ll need to tap the headphones icon on the bottom right and select YouTube Music from the list. YouTube Music’s main navigation menu features four options: Your Mixtape, Recommended, Last played, and Library. Android Police noted that there is a fifth option for Downloads, but it didn’t pop up for me likely because I don’t have anything downloaded in the main YouTube Music app.

HTC Desire U unveiled in Taiwan

Okay, so HTC clearly didn’t stick to the “hero” strategy announced about a year ago, and continued to segment the company’s phone line-up. In fact, we bet it’s now much harder for people to keep up with all new HTC devices than it was in late 2011. The hectic branding can’t be of much help either, being impossible to differentiate five One devices and six Desires by the letter or letters attached to the names.

Nokia is a fallen giant that’s trying to get back atop the mobile business, a position it held for years before the smartphone revolution caught it unprepared. Apple initiated the revolution, by introducing a touchscreen-only device that impressed the crowds and started selling like hot cakes. And then Android came out of hiding, and OEMs launched a variety of Android-based devices, also touchscreen based and capable to run various apps like the iPhone, that fitted any budget.

Huawei's 90-day reprieve extended by another 90 days

Update, August 19, 2019 (02:54 PM ET): Huawei sent Android Authority an official response to the 90-day extension described below. There were two main aspects to the statement: the company stating that it is unhappy with still being on the Entity List and then declaring that the very existence of the list is bad for consumers around the world. The first part is below: [Huawei opposes] the U.S. Commerce Department’s decision to add another 46 Huawei affiliates to the Entity List.

More photos of Moto Z Play leak including a white version

Earlier this month, we reported that the Moto Z Play will be joining the recently-announced Moto Z family. China’s TENAA certification gave us a sneak peek at the device itself, including some of its specs: the upcoming Moto Z Play will sport a 5.

Most of you don't use virtual/extended RAM on your phone

Hadlee Simons / Android Authority The virtual or extended RAM feature has been available as an option on smartphones for a while now, using a portion of your storage as virtual memory of sorts. Some of the more prominent manufacturers offering this feature include OnePlus, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Is this something you actually use, though? That’s what we asked in our standalone poll article last week, and here are the results of that survey.
