Google Pixel devices have trouble pairing with Bluetooth in cars

Owners of Google’s new Pixel devices are reportedly experiencing problems with Bluetooth in a number of vehicles. The recently released Google flagships are having trouble pairing with, and staying connected to, in-car Bluetooth, though it’s not yet known if this is a Pixel-specific problem or relates to a wider Android OS issue. On the Pixel support community page, some users have mentioned that they can connect to Bluetooth but that it will randomly disconnect later, while others claim that Bluetooth is fully functional in some circumstances, like music playback, but that calls cause a disconnect.

Kindle Fire - How to Install Ice Cream Sandwich ROM

Folks who have the Kindle Fire can now get a foretaste of Ice Cream Sandwich while the rest of us watch and drool. Thanks, once again, to the great people at XDA Developers who made this happen. The custom ROM is based on AOSP code for Ice Cream Sandwich. So far, the ROM is still in the pre-alpha stage, so it is not quite perfect yet. More Chromebooks get Google Play, Night Light hits Chrome OS dev channel

Back in January, Google announced that all Chromebooks launched in 2017 and onwards will support Android apps. A few months ago, a total of 16 new Chromebook models received access to the Play Store but only in the Chrome OS Beta Channel. Now, four models have gained support for Android apps on the stable version of the operating system. These are the Asus Chromebook Flip C302, Dell Chromebook 3189, Lenovo Chromebook N22, and Lenovo IdeaPad N42 Chromebook.

OnePlus to launch smart TV, set for 2019 release window

Update, September 17, 2018 (02:20PM EST): Word broke earlier today that OnePlus plans to bring a OnePlus-branded television to market in 2019. Now, via an interview with Pete Lau conducted by PCMag, we have some more information on the upcoming TV. In the interview, Lau makes it clear that the OnePlus TV will be a 4K LED model. It will also run an operating system from “a big, mainstream provider,” but Lau declined to elaborate.

Smartwatch 3 up for pre-order via Verizon, coming soon to Google Play

Now that on-board GPS support (alongside offline music playing and more) has arrived to the Android Wear platform, it’s only appropriate that we see the launch of a watch that can take full advantage of this update. The Sony Smartwatch 3 has now arrivedfor pre-order to Verizon at a price of $249 (outright) with a shipping date of October 30th. For those looking to get the watch outside of Verizon’s website and stores, Google says that the watch will soon be hitting Google Play and it’s likely other retailers will follow suit in the near-future as well.

US judge rules that Apple violated one Motorola patent

While it’s far from being a game, set, and match, Motorola Mobility has scored another win in the patent battle against Apple, and is one step closer to having the iPhone and iPad banned from being sold in the US.  From the contested four patent, a US judge has ruled in favor of Motorola for one patent that relates to WiFi technology, and dismissed the other three. The complaint was filed by Motorola back in October 2010.
