Changing carriers but keeping your device with CDMA devices can be troublesome. On GSM, it’s relatively easy and requires only that you get your unlock code. Then pop in a SIM card and you’re done. With CDMA, it requires reprogramming the phone. Not all ways of doing so are legal either. Boost Mobile may be helping Sprint customers with that sometime in the near future.
XDA-Developers Member jewfish posted a teaser thread about Boost Mobile and a possible future promotion.
Although we are spoiled for choice in theAndroid market, placing your hands on your perfect smartphone is sometimes a little more difficult than it perhaps should be. Limited regional availability, exclusive invite systems, and territorial price variations can make third party, grey market retailers quite appealing, and in most cases these companies provide a valuable service. However, it seems that some companies are abusing this demand and tampering with devices, even going so far as to install malware onto customer’s brand new smartphones.
If the 128GB of storage the LG G8 ThinQ comes with isn’t enough for you, you’ll be happy to hear that you can expand it via a microSD card — up to 2TB. There are a lot of options out there, some of which are better than others. We’ve compiled a list of the best ones all of which are U3 rated, so you won’t have any problems shooting video in 4K.
Tidal is really giving Spotify a run for its money. After all, the service boasts a larger music library than its more famous competitor and pays the artists three times as much. One feature they agree on though is pricing, with both costing $9.99 per month for a Premium subscription. However, today only, you can score one year of Tidal Premium for just $39.99 ($40 off), or Tidal HiFi for $49.
At Google I/O 2016, we got our first look at a wonderful new feature coming to Android called Instant Apps. Basically, Instant Apps allow you to access a cloud-based version of the app on your Android phone without requiring you to install it from the Play Store. This will not only save users time and effort, but they’ll also allow companies to let people demo what’s essentially a full version of their app before installing it.
In this post, which will be updated regularly, we take a closer look at the latest rumors surrounding Huawei’s upcoming flagship devices, the P10 and P10 Plus.
Huawei is on the rise. The Chinese company is currently the third biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world and has been steadily increasing its presence in Western markets, especially in Europe. It is known for making great devices, like last year’s P9 and P9 Plus, which impressed us with a great looking design, premium build quality and a price tag that is more affordable when compared to some other high-end devices.
The Huawei P8 (the “Ascend”branding has been dropped) is a 5.2-inch Full HD device that impresses through its sleek metallic design and intriguing camera features. The device follows the well-received Ascend P7 from last year, a phone that we appreciated for its design, great display, and powerful front camera. It remains to be seen whether the P8 remedies the issues we highlighted in our review, including the mediocre speakers, rear camera, and performance.
A new app brings the PC game streaming functionality of the Nvidia Shield to any Android smartphone or tablet, without the $300 price tag.
The app, called Limelight, is currently in alpha, and mirrors much of the functionality of the Shield by letting PC gamers stream their Steam games directly to their Android device of choice. The only caveats are that your PC has to have a recent Nvidia graphics card with GeForce Experience installed, you need to have Steam enrolled in beta updates, and you need a decent router with 802.
During Motorola’s announcement of the new Moto X, they revealed that Touchless Control would be rebranded as Moto Voice and would receive a few new tricks as well. Now a new update of the app has hit Google Play, officially changing the name to Moto Voice as promised.
So what’s new with Moto Voice, the biggest change is that the new MotoX will be able to have a custom launch phrase like “Hey phone!

Popular benchmark site Geekbench has removed OnePlus 9 benchmarks from its charts. The removal is due to allegations that OnePlus designed Oxygen OS optimization tools in such a way that Geekbench views them as cheating. This isn’t the first time OnePlus has been in hot water for benchmark cheating, although this time is less egregious than some others. Updated, July 7, 2021 (01:55 PM ET): OnePlus contacted Android Authority to give a statement on the matter described below.
