ASUS ZenUI Launcher now compatible with any phone running Android 4.3 or higher

In the early days of Android, OEM-created UX skins were perhaps a “necessary evil” in the eyes of some critics. Google’s own OS had far less usability solutions than it does today, meaning that TouchWiz and its irk provided some clear and sincere “value added services”. Defenders often point out, for example, that Samsung had a brightness slider and quick setting toggles on the notification shade ages before Mountain View ever got inspired.

CHUCHEL is a beautiful comedy-adventure game coming to Android early 2018

If you were thinking that there had been a drought of adorable comedy-adventure titles on Android, then the news of CHUCHEL might be music to your ears. CHUCHEL is an upcoming game from Czech indie studio Amanita Design, who you may know as the team behind point-and-click adventure games Samorost, Botanicula, and Machinarium. It looks like another wacky take on the adventure game genre, typical of the studio, though trying to work out specifically how it plays based on the trailer above isn’t exactly easy (I’d recommend playing it with sound if you want to get the full experience).

Google could soon let you use the power button to summon Assistant

TL;DR Google is working on the ability to let you summon Assistant via your phone’s power button. OEMs have previously offered this functionality on their devices. Google already lets you summon the Google Assistant with either a wake-word, a gesture from the corners, and more. But it looks like the company is working on yet another way to activate its voice assistant. XDA-Developers has dug into version 12.18.6.29 of the Google app and discovered references to the Assistant being triggered via a phone’s power button.

How can you stop your Wi-Fi being hacked?

Are you worried about that van that’s been parked outside your house for a suspiciously long time? Are you concerned that there’s a master criminal in there picking off your internet banking details? Don’t worry, you’re probably just losing your mind. But what is terrifying is that you don’t have to be an evil genius to learn Wi-Fi hacking. Most networks have a variety of weaknesses that a 13-year-old kid could quickly learn to infiltrate.

Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD to lose Special Offers ads soon, not known how yet

The ads – Amazon’s Special Offers – will appear on the lock screen, and users won’t be able to pay Amazon the extra buck to remove them. And while the ads aren’t exactly intrusive, and users would not mind seeing some special offers – especially the ones they’d like to take advantage of – the fact still remains that not everybody likes to be bombarded with ads. This aren’t the first Amazon-made devices to get the Special Offers treatment.
