With all the new features Facebook is adding into its apps (including multiple cloned Snapchat features), it has become more and more necessary to have a de-bloated, lite version of the app. Facebook Lite debuted in 2015, while a lightweight Messenger app launched in Kenya, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, and Venezuela over a year later. Both apps are aimed at lower-spec devices that can’t handle the normal Facebook and Messenger app and users in developing countries where data connections are at a premium.

Cyber Monday 2017 hasn’t officially arrived yet, but some companies are getting a head start for what is supposed to be the biggest online shopping day of the year. For example, BlackBerry has started an extended Cyber Monday sale on the unlocked BlackBerry KEYone, selling the smartphone with its traditional hardware keyboard for just $449.99, or $100 off its normal $549.99 price tag. But it’s quickly turning into a much bigger project. Scouring the web for official APKs has taught Huawei a lot about web crawling and indexing, so much so that it’s expanding Petal Search to act much more like a general search engine.

Fans of 90s slasher films are about to get an exciting new series based on a classic. An I Know What You Did Last Summer show is headed to Amazon Prime Video just in time for Halloween. The new series will take a new approach to the story first filmed in 1997, which was itself based on a 1973 novel … and it’s produced by horror master James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring, Malignant).

Reportedly, the company plans to scan user photos for evidence of child abuse. If found, the algorithm would push that photo to a human reviewer. The idea of Apple employees accidentally monitoring legal photos of a user’s children is certainly concerning. Update, August 5, 2021 (04:10 PM ET): Not long after we published the article below, Apple confirmed the existence of its software that hunts for child abuse.

TL;DR VRV has released a new channel called NickSplat to stream classic Nickelodeon shows. The service costs $6 a month for unlimited streaming. Shows like Rugrats, Invader Zim, and Hey Arnold! are unfortunately not currently available.  Binge-watching TV shows is as popular today as they ever have been. To cash in on this, networks like Cartoon Network and Disney have been working to bring their classic series to streaming platforms. Now, Nickelodeon is doing the same thing by partnering with VRV to create a new NickSplat channel where anyway can stream every episode of some of its classic shows (via Engadget).

The Oppo Find 7 is a fine offering by the Chinese manufacturer, but the same can be said about its cheaper, only somewhat lesser counterpart – the Find 7a. For the higher price, the Find 7‘s Quad HD display is its only true offering but it won’t make sense to most when the cheaper version is highly comparable in overall experience. The Oppo Find 7a is an astounding smartphone, earning a respectable 8.5/10 score in our earlier review of the device.
