There was once a time when an iPhone was arguably much better than your flagship Android device, largely because Android as an OS was still very new and just getting its bearings. Times have certaintly changed and now there are more than a few Android phones that are arguably better than the new iPhones. And yet, despite multiple Android devices outclassing the iPhone in a myriad of different ways (camera, battery, customization etc), the average iPhone still costs an arm and a leg more than the ‘equivalent’ Android phone.

Apple on Tuesday announced its financial results for its third quarter of fiscal year 2012 – which corresponds to the second quarter of the year, ending on June 30 – and we’re looking at some record numbers for this period of the year, even some overall records (iPad sales). The company has sold 26 million iPhones or 28% more than in Q3 FY2011 and 17 million iPads or 84% more than last year, and an all time record for quarterly iPad sales.

MyAirtel is the ‘selfcare’ app of India’s largest carrier, Airtel, that allows customers to manage their accounts, billing plans, subscriptions, and pay bills. With the latest update, the company has transformed the MyAirtel app into a digital gateway that offers access to other Airtel apps and services, as well as to a curated list of third-party services as part of a new ‘Airtel Apps’ section. This includes Ditto TV, Hike Messenger, and Juggernaut as well as Wynk Music and Wynk Movies.

Real, fake, or somewhere in-between? Only time will tell. HTC has been around for quite some time, having made a host of portable devices before the current “mobile wars” began; some were running its own OS, some Windows Mobile. In the early days of Android however, the Taiwanese company quickly became a household name with the fantastic HTC Desire (itself a modified HTC Nexus One) and subsequent releases such as the Desire HD, Droid Incredible, and EVO 4G.

Today is the fifth anniversary of the release of Wear OS. Born as Android Wear, Wear OS is Google’s Android-based operating system specifically designed to work on wearables and smartwatches. After five years of development and refinement, you’d think Wear OS would be a strong contender within the wearable industry and something a reviews site like Android Authority would recommend. However, that’s not really the case. Unfortunately, Wear OS is still very messy and feels at times like a half-baked product.

Back in early 2018, Huawei made a clean break into flagship smartphone territory with the photography powerhouse Huawei P20 Pro. It was the first modern smartphone to boast a 40MP camera, along with a 3x telephoto lens, and Night Mode capabilities that are now commonplace. The phone sold well and went on to define Huawei as a top player in the mobile photography market. In the following year and a half, Huawei refined its photography capabilities with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, P30 Pro, and the latest Mate 30 Pro.

Update #2 (December 3, 2018 at 3:17 p.m. ET): A Google spokesperson reached out to Android Authority with the company’s official response on the Hangouts confusion: In March 2017, we announced plans to evolve classic Hangouts to focus on two experiences that help bring teams together: Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet. Both Chat and Meet are available today for G Suite customers and will be made available for consumer users, too. We have not announced an official timeline for transitioning users from classic Hangouts to Chat and Meet.

The long wait for the Moto X to reach the masses is nearly over. AT&T sent out a press release today, telling us that August 23 would be the day the Moto X would hit their stores. The press release went on to say that a few customers who registered at the AT&T Moto X page would get early access, and the ability to start the process on August 19.

The Nexus line-up has never been famous for its cameras. In fact, some of us are willing to say a few of their devices have had significantly disappointing photographic results. This is why most of us weren’t expecting much out of the Nexus 6P camera technology (and let’s not even mention the Nexus 5X). Furthermore, things started getting worrisome to some of you once Google started talking about the lack of OIS (optical image stabilization).
