If you simply cannot wait for Huawei to release the official Android 7.0 Nougat update for its Mate 8 smartphone, there’s a rather complicated way to get Google’s latest OS on that device right now. Someone has found and leaked the Nougat update on the phone and posted it on theXDA Developers forums.

Delta, Gogo, Sprint, and other companies announced the Seamless Air Alliance. The group hopes to bring faster and easier-to-use in-flight internet connections. The concept is still in its early stages and faces several obstacles. Getting an internet connection on an object that moves at hundreds of miles per hour, almost 40,000 feet off the ground is not an easy task. In-flight internet is terrible. The Seamless Air Alliance, a new initiative announced during MWC 2018, hopes to change that and deliver broadband-level connections in the sky.
Chinese app stores are, put mildly, a mess. Even the reputable ones, like Huawei’s AppGallery, are full of shoddy apps, clones, and copyright-infringing content.
Software, in general, remains the big weakness of China’s phone makers, at least in international markets.
It’s easy to understand why some were quick to dismiss the news this week of an app alliance between China’s biggest phone manufacturers. However, I think that’s a little shortsighted.

The new Android game Call of Duty: Global Operations is live now in select countries. It appears the new MMO tactical warfare game is in the middle of a soft launch. Call of Duty: Siege soft-launched in October 2016 but was canceled before release, so there’s no guarantee this game will get a global launch. So far, it seems the game is only live in Australia and the Philippines.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google’s latest flagship phones, were made available last week. The new handsets have been met with much excitement, as you might expect, but also some worrying reports.
Last week, we discussed comments that had appeared online regarding the Pixel 2 XL’s display, namely that it seemed undersaturated, and that it suffered some kind of blockiness/distortion in low-light. We looked at the situation in more depth over the weekend and concluded that it might be enough to make one reconsider purchasing the device.

Google is upgrading user-owned SD and HD films in Play Movies to 4K for free, but only in the U.S. and Canada. The search giant is also making UHD movies cheaper to buy in the Play Store. An updated Play Movies app is bringing a refreshed app to Samsung, LG, and Vizio TVs as well as bringing UHD streaming to Samsung’s 4K Smart TVs. Just over a week ago, a teardown of a recent Play Movies build revealed several strings of code that hinted at Google potentially upgrading user’s movies to 4K.
Over the last month or so, you might have heard the name “Oppo” quite a bit as Android Authority covered all manner of teasers and rumors related to the recently announced Oppo N1. If you’ve found yourself wondering who Oppo is, then you’re certainly not alone.
Oppo Find 5
Despite its (relatively) small marketing budget and the fact that it’s a fairly new smartphone manufacturer, Oppo still manages to pack quite a few features into their handsets and yet offer prices that easily undercut better known brands such as Samsung, HTC and Sony.
Avengers: Endgame is smashing box office records all over the world. You won’t find any spoilers here, but it’s an amazing film. If you’re a Marvel fan you should definitely see it.
To commemorate the release of the movie, Oppo has released the F11 Pro Avengers Endgame Limited Edition. We’ve previously reviewed the Oppo F11 Pro so we won’t go into much detail about the phone here. If you want to know more about it, feel free to read our Oppo F11 Pro full review.
In a new update that’s rolling out today, Pushbullet is gaining support for end-to-end encryption for notification mirroring, SMS as well as universal copy and paste. Many users have been requesting these features for quite some time now, so it’s great to see the Pushbullet team finally bring some added security benefits to the service.
What exactly is end-to-end encryption? For starters, in order to sync your notifications across multiple devices and platforms, Pushbullet needs to forward some of your personal data between devices.
