There are loads of smartphones out there on the market today, and we here at Android Authority endeavor to cover them all. But what about the phones we actually use every day as our daily drivers? After all, it’s one thing to review a phone and call it one of the best you can buy, but another thing entirely to use one as your primary device.
We did a Team AA daily driver poll back in 2018, as well as another one last year.
Our bodies create and use a ton of energy, and it could be going to better places, like, uh, your Android phone! If Cinderella were to live in the 21st century, she probably wouldn’t be very happy to hear what we are going to tell you today. 24-year-old Anthony Mutua from Kenya has developed an ultra-thin chip of crystals that can charge mobile phones when placed in shoe soles and the technology is set to go into mass production soon enough.

Specs and images of the Amazfit T-Rex Pro 2 and Amazfit Vienna have leaked. Both are rugged smartwatches with massive batteries. The Vienna is a more premium device with a titanium and sapphire glass build. Two new Amazfit watches are on their way, or so a new leak from GSMArena would have us believe. Huami, the maker of the Amazfit wearables, may be looking to expand its rugged smartwatch portfolio with the Amazfit T-Rex Pro 2 and Amazfit Vienna.
Disney Plus
It’s week two of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus, with the Star Wars series settling into its Wednesday time slot. That means we’re back with another Obi-Wan Kenobi recap.
The limited series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his iconic role from the prequels. It’s 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith and the fall of the Republic and the Jedi. The aging Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is on Tatooine, keeping a watchful eye on young Luke Skywalker while a league of Emperial “Inquisitors” hunts for any remaining Jedi in the galaxy.
Farming Simulator 18, the latest in Giants Software’s long-running series, has now been released in the Google Play Store. This is only the third Giants Software title to make it to Android after Farming Simulator 14, which has been downloaded more than 10 million times, and Farming Simulator 16 from 2015.
Farming Simulator 18 sees you once again tending to your own farm, planting and harvesting crops, taking care of livestock, and driving more than 50 farming vehicles.
You see, Google’s track record when it comes to acquiring hardware companies is not the greatest. Most of the companies purchased by Google either fail or simply get integrated with other Google brands. The list of Google hardware acquisitions that stand the test of time is quite small.
We obviously have no idea if Fitbit is going to thrive or fail under Google, but we can get an idea for its chances by looking at Google’s history.

Google is hosting a virtual summit on July 8. It’s a developer event dedicated to the company’s smart home ecosystem. Could we see new smart home hardware? Probably not. Google might be getting ready to launch the Pixel 4a, but before it does that, the company is hosting a virtual “Hey Google” smart home event July 8. Google hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming developer event, but we expect to hear a lot about Google Assistant and the smart home devices it powers.

Material You was revealed as part of Google I/O 2021 today. This is the next-generation version of the company’s long-running Material Design for devices. It will be coming first to the company’s next Pixel phones this fall. As part of Google I/O 2021 today, Google announced a new design language for apps and Android. Previously, the company had launched and embraced Material Design, but now it’s rebooting that style under the new “Material You” design.
HMD Global has launched its new flagship, the Nokia X6, in China. The device, previously seen with the name Nokia X, was unveiled in Beijing earlier today.
The smartphone is the first Nokia device to sport a controversial notch and a 19:9 display — facets that should help it achieve a decent screen-to-body ratio. It features an octa-core, Snapdragon 636 chip, up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of internal storage space.
The Nvidia GeForce Now game streaming service is much older than Google’s Stadia service. Stadia though, for whatever reason, seems to have more buzz surrounding it. That might change now that GeForce Now is officially out of beta and open to all without a waiting period.
There is also a premium membership option that gives you unlimited six-hours-long sessions. You also get priority access to Nvidia’s gaming servers and access to exclusive RTX content that the free membership does not provide.
