Google's tips for Safer Internet Day are genuinely helpful

TL;DR Google has shared some tips for improved online security. Most of these tips, such as unique passwords and two-step verification, are very useful. It might be hard for some to listen to Google when it comes to account protections — the company continually receives flak for its approach to privacy. That said, Google’s tips for Safer Internet Day seem like common sense suggestions that everyone should follow. First up, you should be using unique passwords for each of your accounts.

How to create a simple Android notification

Notifications are a powerful tool in the Android developer’s toolkit, helping to keep your users up-to-date on events that are happening inside your application, even when they’re not looking at your app directly. A well-timed and useful notification is also a great way to tempt the user into launching your application – particularly if they haven’t visited your app in a while! In this article, I’m going to show you how to get started with notifications by creating a very simple and straightforward notification that, when tapped, launches the user’s browser and boots up a website (bonus points if you can guess what that website is going to be!

Japan Display Inc. (JDI) has announced its development of a new display technology known as a “Full Active” panel. The new design boasts that it can reduce the width of the bottom bezel down to as narrow as the other three sides, potentially reducing the size of smartphones using this display type. To coincide with the announcement, the company also introduced a 5.5-inch 1080p LCD display for smartphones built on this technology.

Nintendo explains why it chose Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem for its next mobile offerings

Despite the fact that Miitomo has managed to get 10 million users worldwide in the span of a month, some feel that the lack of content in the product will mean that all but the most devoted will move on from it quickly. Currently, the offering consists of little more than answering random questions, dressing up an avatar in different clothing, shopping for clothing, and a Pachinko “game” to…get clothing. The product from which it was derived from, Tomodachi Life, is a much richer, much more interactive and creative piece of software, raising the question as to why Nintendo deemed it acceptable to remove so much content?

The company did say that by the end of September it will have activated over 700 million iOS devices, although not all of them are iPhones, and it looks like it has big plans for the upcoming devices as well.

The Aston Martin Galaxy Z Fold 2 makes the standard model look like a bargain

Eric Zeman / Android Authority TL;DR Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2 Aston Martin Racing Edition. The special edition phone is limited to China and costs over $3,100. We thought the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the only foldable phone worth buying, owing to its improved build quality, extensive list of features, and versatility. Unfortunately, the $2,000 price tag means the device is extremely expensive, even by 2020 standards.

Who is price-gouging you the most?

There are plenty of essential components that make up every smartphone and phone storage is one of them. After all, what good is a phone if you can’t fit all your apps, photos, and videos on it? While cloud services are wonderful, it’s still a pain to hit your local storage limit and have to wade through your files to see what’s hogging space. Plus, in the age of 4K 60fps video and stunning 3D games, the need for more local storage is higher than ever.
