Supposed Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus photos emerge, look legit

Max J, Editor at German news site AllAboutSamsung, has posted what is possibly our best leaked look yet at the upcoming Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus. The images were posted earlier today, adding more weight to several rumors about the new flagships. The phones feature Infinity O displays — i.e. an AMOLED panel with a cutout or punch hole for the front-facing camera — and triple rear cameras, as had been speculated, as well as USB-C connectivity and a headphone port.

T-Mobile band 71 rolls out to 120 new places, Puerto Rico this Fall

TL;DR Today, T-Mobile announced that it recently brought 600MHz spectrum (band 71) to 172 new places. That brings the total rollout to over 900 cities and towns across 32 states. Puerto Rico is next, with T-Mobile band 71 coverage coming this Fall. A little over a year ago, T-Mobile spent some big money at the FCC spectrum auction for the 600MHz band. Today, the company announced that it recently lit up 600MHz spectrum in 172 new places across the U.

Verizon may introduce a device payment plan

The crew at Droid Life has their hands on a leaked document (below) which shows a very interesting new strategy. Under the heading regarding a customer who would like a new device, there is an option for a payment plan… much like T-Mobile’s new design. Interesting, to say the least. This doesn’t mean Verizon is going to cannonball into the unsubsidised realm, as T-Mobile did, but it shows the value for carriers in adopting such an approach.

ARM launches new Cortex-A12 processor with new Mali-T622 GPU

ARM has released details of its new Cortex-A12 processor which is designed to be a successor to the very popular Cortex-A9. Aimed at the mid-range smartphone and tablet markets, the A12 is 40 percent faster than the A9 and can be used in a big.LITTLE implementation. The new Mali-T622 GPU is OpenGL ES 3.0 compliant but yet has a 50 percent greater energy-efficiency compared to the first-generation of Mali-T600 GPUs.According to projections made by ARM and Gartner, 580 million mid-range smartphones and tablets will be sold in 2015.

AT&T changes rewards program for pre-paid subs to match T-Mobile

Last week, T-Mobile offered subscribers on other wireless carriers a year’s worth of free unlimited data if they switched to T-Mobile. Additionally, if a T-Mobile subscriber referred that new customer, they got the same free data. Now, AT&T is responding by offering $100 worth of bill credit to users who switch from T-Mobile to Cricket Wireless, AT&T’s main prepaid subsidiary. Subscribers will get $100 in credit for every active line that they refer to AT&T’s network.

Material Design leads the charge, bug fixes and performance improvements follow the company line and improved notifications bring up the rear. Galaxy S7 has the best smartphone display, says DisplayMate

Samsung has a reputation for being at the forefront of smartphone display technology, with both last year’s Galaxy S6 and Note 5 boasting the best displays in the business for their time. Samsung appears to have struck gold once again with its Galaxy S7, as testing from DisplayMate reveals that the new handset has the best display around. DisplayMate was granted access to an early production unit to put through its usual selection of display tests.

HTC Butterfly arriving in Taiwan on December 11

At long last, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for HTC, one that emanates from the 5-inch display of the HTC Droid DNA, also known as the HTC Butterfly. Here’s the latest update on the flagship smartphone’s availability. We know that the HTC Butterfly will land in China in mid-December, but it looks like those in Taiwan will be able to get their hands on the device first.
