LG could beat Samsung to market with first flexible displays

Flexible display prototypes by Samsung LG Display is aiming to ship the first flexible displays for mobile applications this year, beating Samsung to the market. Flexible displays have been a common appearance at consumer electronics shows and in technology predictions columns for the past couple of years. Samsung in particular has touted its upcoming flexible OLED displays, branded Youm, as the next big thing for mobile devices. At CES 2013, the Korean conglomerate showed us how Youm could be integrated into innovative product designs, like foldable tablets and smartphones with intelligent bezels.

More rumors about Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 issues

The newly unveiled LG G Flex 2 isn’t just a smartphone for display buffs, the handset is also packing Qualcomm’s latest and greatest 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor. However, all may not be well with Qualcomm’s latest high-end SoC, as more rumors have surfaced suggesting that the chip is struggling with some performance impacting production issues. As a quick recap, the Snapdragon 810 features eight CPU cores in a big.LITTLE configuration, arranged as four heavy lifting Cortex-A57s and four energy efficient Cortex-A53s for the less demanding background tasks.

Moto E (2015) is now available on Boost Mobile and Sprint Prepaid for $99

Motorola’s newly-announced budget handset, the Moto E (2015), is now available on both Sprint Prepaid and Boost Mobile for only $99. This is the 4G LTE-capable device we’re talking about here, so it will work on both Sprint and Boost’s 4G networks. If either of those carriers aren’t your style, the new device will also be available on Virgin Mobile beginning Monday, March 9th for the same price. The second generation Moto E is quite a nice step up from last year’s model.

Phones at school can be decrypted without a warrant

TL;DR A report from Gizmodo proves that some US schools are buying phone-cracking hardware for decrypting students’ phones at school. School officials do not need warrants to seize and search smartphones owned by students. Over at Gizmodo, there’s a new report related to smartphone security. The report shows how certain schools here in the United States have purchased phone-cracking systems from companies such as Cellebrite. These tools allow school officials to decrypt students’ smartphones and retrieve data those students may have erased.

Samsung has contributed to BlueStacks, to keep Gamepop alive

Do you remember the Android gaming box called Gamepop that was set to take over your living room gaming experience? It was big news early last year, but it sort of fell off the radar. But you’d be wrong to consider Gamepop a dead concept, as their current round of funding just got a big bump by Samsung.
