Waze update lets it pull directions from your calendar appointments

WhatsApp Cleaner tool is now available in MIUI 10 on Xiaomi phones

TL;DR Xiaomi has added a WhatsApp Cleaner tool to its MIUI 10 update. The tool, found in the security hub, allows users to quickly clear files sent and received on WhatsApp. It seems like you still need the official storage tool for wiping files by contact or group. Like many brands, Xiaomi phones offer a security/phone management hub, bringing a range of system-related tools into one place. These tools included SMS/call blocklists, cache cleaners, and data usage tracking.

Xperia Z3 Compact leaks in beautiful press photos

With a little  more of a day left until its great unveiling, the Xperia Z3 Compact leaked in what appears to be a set of press shoots. The images reveal a design that – as we all expected – is not a major departure from the aspect of the Xperia Z1 Compact, released in January. The colors of the device, however, are new – well at least the teak and orange versions are new, apparently replacing the purple and yellow that Sony has been using over the past year in its mobile lineup.

$350 LG G4 deal resurfaces at B&H Photo

Just as we’ve seen various carriers doing with discounted or free Galaxy S6 offers to make way for the Galaxy S7, so too must the LG G4 make way for the bigger and better LG G5. B&H Photo is repeating its $100 off deal, offering an unlocked LG G4 for just $350, but only while stocks last. B&H Photo already offered the same deal last month, but that was a one-day-only affair.

10 technologies made obsolete by Android smartphones

Smartphones are like the Swiss Army knife of the technology world. They can do a little bit of everything, and you only need to carry one device in your pocket to cover a lot of bases. Technological convergence is about increasing functions and delivering more features in a single package, and it’s hard to think of anywhere it has been more successful than in the smartphone market. The combination of portability and multiple functions has really driven the smartphone revolution.

Amazon New Kindle Fire VS Kobo Arc

As far as the digital books market is concerned, the top three players are Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the Canadian-based Kobo – each tries to appeal to the bookworm side of people with a range of e-reader devices, and each with its own ecosystem. It wasn’t long before the three started releasing full-fledged tablets for customers who seek more out of their monochrome e-readers. Amazon’s Kindle Fire jumpstarted the affordable Android tablet race last year, as it pushed the price barrier down to a low $199.

AT&T and T-Mobile say it would cost too much to drive-test their networks

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR In July, the FCC asked for comments on a plan that would require carriers to conduct drive testing. Both AT&T and T-Mobile said it would be too costly to conduct those tests. The recently passed Broadband DATA Act requires the FCC to collect more granular data on coverage. AT&T and T-Mobile have come out against a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) plan that would require telecom operators to conduct drive tests to verify their coverage claims.

CSR Racing speeds on to Android devices

CSR Racing Racing games are aplenty on Android devices with the likes of Real Racing 3 leading the download charts on Google Play. However, there could be a new challenger looking to take pole position, as CSR Racing was released on Android tablets and smartphones. Unlike many racing games that focus on the classic track racing format, CSR Racing is based around perhaps the simplest form of motorsport – drag racing. Users just simply need to hammer the throttle and try to outpace their rivals on the track.

Daily Authority: 🥽 S22 preorders up, VR in the car

👋 Buenos días from Barcelona! The team has landed and settled in. Of the half dozen of us here, and the devices among us, the ones we keep playing with are: the foldable Oppo Find N (with exclusively Chinese software), the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and S22 Plus. Eric Zeman from the team is also working off the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus with the Book Cover keyboard, to see if it can replace using a regular laptop for the mix of on-the-go writing and work.
