Although it’s a player in the high-end market first and foremost, HTC is also thinking of tech users on a lower budget. The Desire C, also known as the Golf some time ago, was unveiled last month and is slowly, but steadily, entering the entry-level markets in several key regions. Released in the UK a couple of weeks back, HTC’s newest ICS-powered smartphone will start selling in India by the end of this week.

Google and Amazon have a funny relationship with each other. Amazon’s line of tablets, the Kindle Fire series, are powered by a heavily skinned Android operating system. And yet, Amazon has long maintained its own app ecosystem, and pitted it against the Play Store. Did you know that Lenovo has an Android app store of its own? Neither do we. Apparently, it has been around since March 2012. Any hope of trying to get to know it better is too little too late since Lenovo has decided to pull the plug of its Google Play alternative. As of September 21, Lenovo’s Android app shop will cease to exist. It’s not out of the ordinary for manufacturers to provide a digital outlet – as a complement to Google Play – for their users to buy and download apps from.

Motorola has launched the Moto E6S and its first-ever range of LED Android TVs in India. The new gadgets in Moto’s lineup target the affordable smartphone and television categories in the country. The Moto E6S is essentially a rebranded version of the Moto E6 Plus launched a few weeks back at the IFA trade show in Berlin. The entry-level Moto E6S upgrades the chipset, display, cameras, and pretty much everything else compared to the Moto E6 which was announced back in July.

Xiaomi has announced that it will be increasing the suggested price of the 4GB+64GB Redmi Note 5 Pro, in a bid to ensure “steady supply” of the devices. The company has opened several manufacturing facilities in India, including a plant devoted to printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) earlier this month. Unfortunately, the PCBA plant will only meet the required increase in production from Q3 2018, forcing the Chinese brand to import more PCBAs, it claimed.

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus sales have hit the one million mark in South Korea. Samsung has announced that the two smartphones achieved the new milestone exactly 37 days after they have been released in the country. The tech giant also mentioned that its flagships are selling twice as fast when compared with the previous two Galaxy S generations. Samsung managed to sell one million Galaxy S7 units in South Korea 74 days since its launch, while Galaxy S6 sales reached the same number in 75 days.
