Today, NVIDIA announced the voluntary recall of some plug heads of its Shield wall adapters. The company determined that the European plug heads shipped with its Shield World Charger Kits, Shield tablets, and Shield TVs between July 2014 and May 2017 may cause some safety issues. NVIDIA is now working with the proper government authorities to make sure the recall goes smoothly and the faulty components will be replaced for free.
Samsung Electronics will use batteries supplied by its Samsung SDI branch for the Galaxy S8, according to a new report. The information arrives from The Investor, which claims that Samsung Electronics is seeking the SDI department’s services despite previously suspecting its batteries were responsible for the Galaxy Note 7’s overheating issue.
Samsung is said to have lost billions of dollars on the cancelled Galaxy Note 7 last year, following reports of it catching fire.
Android is growing ever more popular, but right now the platform and the devices that run it are all sold by carriers or other retailers, unless you shop online. Despite having a line of products, Google’s direct Internet sales of Nexus devices have been relatively modest and there are issues with a standard carrier deployment. Moving beyond smartphones with the Nexus tablets presents a new challenge for a company that doesn’t have strong retail ties.

Remember that promise that an LG official made about the Ice Cream Sandwich update heading for the Spectrum really soon? That was hinted back in July. Just when most folks are about to lose faith in humanity Verizon and LG, out pops the announcement that the long awaited software upgrade to Android 4.0 for the LG Spectrum is now ready to be served.
While the actual date hasn’t been mentioned, Verizon’s website has been updated with details of the new firmware, as well as how to get it for the device.
I’ve been enjoying my time with the LG G3 so far, and we’ve gone through the usual run of tests, including camera shootout and other top features. Here, we focus on the Knock Code, which is LG’s take on lockscreen security.
Basically, this implementation of Knock Code is pretty much the same as with recent LG devices, and will also make an appearance if/when the LG G Flex and G2 get updated. It’s probably safe to say that the Nexus Q, that overpriced entertainment Android-based device unveiled at Google I/O this summer although never actually launched in the months that followed, is not one of Google’s finest creations, especially considering that it somewhat represented a Google TV rival.

The VoCore 2 is open source hardware. It has WIFI, USB, UART, and 20+ GPIOs, but it’s only one inch square. Amazing really, since it could be used to control your smart home.

The applications of this tiny computer are virtually endless. With a bit of easy-to-learn coding you could use it as a VPN gateway to secure your network, an airplay music streaming station, a private cloud to store your data, and so on.
