AT&T might finally ditch deceptive 5G E branding

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority AT&T describes it as “5G Evolution, The First Step to 5G,” which may be true in that it is slightly faster than traditional4G LTE connections. However, 5G Evolution is nowhere near as fast as actual 5G, and that’s because it is just a faster version of LTE and not real 5G at all. The company started using this branding in 2017, long before real 5G was ready for the masses.

Got the KitKat SD card blues? Solve the problem with SDFix (root only)

Android 4.4 KitKat limits the access of apps to the microSD card, by only allowing them to write files to their own folders, a problem that causes issues for all kinds of apps, from file explorers, to music apps, and more. There’s an entire debate to be had about the purpose of this restriction. Some say it’s a thinly veiled move by Google to push users towards cloud services in general, and Drive in particular.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip scratch test questions ultra-thin glass claim

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip boasts at least one structural improvement that makes its display better than the Galaxy Fold from last year. It uses a new ultra-thin glass (UTG) screen instead of a plastic display. This was supposed to make the Galaxy Z Flip’s display more resistant to scratches compared to the Galaxy Fold’s plastic screen. However, a durability test of the phone suggests otherwise. The display starts scratching at level two on the Mohs scale (equivalent to gypsum).
