The Samsung Galaxy Premier has had a busy schedule in the past weeks. After we caught the unofficial Nexus phone successor making a stop at Taiwan’s FCC-like agency (NCC), which hinted its impending arrival, the Premier now stars in a billboard ad alongside the rest of the Galaxy lineup in Guangzhou, China.
Looking at the ad, which was first spotted by ePrice, it seems Samsung is planning to introduce two variants of the Premier: the I9260, which we’ve known and talked about in the last couple of months, and the lesser known I9268 model.
We continue to fight the war against phone theft with kill switches, but companies like Sony have been providing theft protection for years. Sony’s My Xperia app can locate, lock, factory reset or even send a sound alert to your phone. That’s not all it does, though – if you have an unlocked bootloader, it may go as far as making your device malfunction.
Those with the My Xperia Theft Protection service on their more recent high-end Sony Xperia smartphones may have noticed that using this service will get rid of the ability to unlock your bootloader.
Deutsche Telekom, the mother ship in charge of T-Mobile’s destiny, issued a press release today detailing its mobile plans for the coming years. Since T-Mobile is a big part of Deutsche Telekom, we were not surprised to see the U.S. carrier mentioned quite a few times in the document. And yes, Apple was also there.
In a simple phrase towards the middle of the press release, Deutsche Telekom shyly confirmed that the iPhone is coming to T-Mobile.

2015 has been an interesting year for mobile processing technology and the overarching trend in products has been wide-spread adoption of hexa-core and octa-core processors. The Snapdragon 810, 808 and Exynos 7420 are powering a range of flagship smartphones this year, while MediaTek announced the world’s first deca-core mobile SoC with its Helio X20 a few months back.
Qualcomm is looking to buck this trend with its new Snapdragon 820, which is scheduled for an early 2016 appearance in mobile products, including the Galaxy S7.

Microsoft is bringing the power of Windows Defender to the Chrome browser via an extension. Chrome already does a good job of protecting you from malware, but Microsoft says the Windows Defender Chrome extension is better. According to Microsoft, the Windows Defender Chrome extension is 99 percent effective against phishing attacks. Google’s Chrome browser already has some pretty good malware protection. When you visit a site that Chrome thinks might be harmful, you are given a huge warning and have to go through a couple of steps to click through against Chrome’s advice.
We see a lot of smartphones launched at MWC every year, and sometimes, smaller players have had the tendency to get lost in the crowd, especially if there are any big hitters around that steal the spotlight. While that is somewhat the case this year as well, especially with HTC and Samsung introducing their respective flagships, what the other lesser known names in Android have done extremely well is to offer something unique with their products, that go beyond what their otherwise standard nature, or price point, would suggest.
