Update

Tile will help find your lost Fitbit wearables, starting with the Inspire 2

Tile’s item tracking now covers your fitness tracker that fell between the couch cushions. The company has formed a partnership that will help find lost Fitbit devices through the Tile app, beginning with the Inspire 2. An update rolling out this week for Fitbit’s wearable will make its last known location visible through the app, including through Tile’s worldwide network if the gadget is beyond Bluetooth range. The tracker itself, meanwhile, can ring your phone if you’ve misplaced it.

Free YouTube Music background listening rolling out

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR YouTube Music free background listening will finally be a feature starting November 3. Unfortunately, this feature will only be available in Canada. There’s no word on when this feature might expand to other markets. YouTube Music is the latest attempt by Google to compete in the streaming music business. It finally took over from the now-shuttered Google Play Music nearly a year ago.

Here's how your Pixel 5 is looking after accidental drops

David Imel / Android Authority The Google Pixel 5 bucked the trend of glass-backed phones earlier this year, featuring a “bio-resin” (plastic) material atop metal for the rear cover. It’s a rather interesting approach to smartphone design, with Google also cutting a hole in the metal layer to enable wireless charging. Our own Eric Zeman felt confident enough to use the Pixel 5 without a case, but he recently noticed that a fall on gravel resulted in the phone having tiny gouges in the plastic material.

Nest app now works with Android TVs to show home camera feeds

The Nest connected home hardware company, owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, is making an effort to link to more of its big brother’s products. The Nest app for Android now allows people who own its camera products to view their feeds on the big screen, assuming it runs Android TV. Nest's first outdoor security camera is weatherproof and can see in the dark News That means if you own either the indoor or the recently released outdoor camera from the company, the Nest app can now work with Android TV so you can see who is at the door while you are watching the football game.

Nintendo patents Game Boy phone case

TL;DR One of Nintendo’s patent applications shows off what looks to be a Game Boy-inspired smartphone case. The case features a cutout for the display, along with the traditional D-pad, B, A, Start, and Select buttons. Patent applications do not guarantee that the product will become a real thing. With Nintendo’s NES and SNES Classic consoles proving that there is still significant interest in the 129-year-old company’s older titles, might Nintendo channel that desire into a nostalgia-filled smartphone case that hits me and plenty of others right in the childhood?

Upgrade Samsung Captivate I897 (Galaxy S) to Android 4.0.3 ICS RC 4.2

It has not been long ago since the Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware update for the Samsung Captivate was released, and now an Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich custom ROM for the Captivate is finally available. However, this ICS firmware for the Captivate is unofficial and Samsung Electronics has left us with no clue on when the official ICS update will be coming. Many users have already experienced Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices (mostly through custom ROMs), but many have still yet to try it on their devices.

Honor 7X review - Android Authority

For its price point, it's impressive just how few compromises are involved with the Honor 7X. When I learned I’d be writing reviews for Android Authority, I was super excited at the prospect of being sent technology to test. As a tech nerd, this seemed like the perfect scenario. What I didn’t quite realize is that it would often mean having to ditch the device I chose to buy for a while, in order to live with something that may perhaps be more of a budget choice.
