ThL T200 full review - hands-on with a 6 inch octa-core smartphone

The ThL T200 is a large and powerful phone. At 6 inches it blurs the distinction between a smartphone and a tablet and some would call it a “Phablet”. Not only is this device big on the outside, it is also big on the inside. At its heart is a MediaTek octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, plus some nice extras like NFC. The MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor is clocked at 1.

Animal Crossing mobile release date pushed back to April at the earliest

It was last April when Nintendo said Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing would arrive to mobile in fall 2016. That release deadline was subsequently pushed into 2017, before the end of the fiscal year. Though Fire Emblem Heroes will land in just a couple of days (it hits Android this Thursday), Animal Crossing won’t be here until the next fiscal year. Meaning this April. At the earliest. Nintendo confirmed the delay earlier today in a financial statement and said it was to “accommodate the releases and operation” of Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem: Heroes.

iD Software brings new hope to game streaming via Google Stadia

Google CEO Sundar Pichai admits he’s not really a gamer, but he’s extremely confident in yet another game streaming service launching later this year: Google Stadia. Introduced during Google’s GDC 2019 keynote, we don’t know any specifics about Google’s upcoming platform. Will it run a virtual machine hosting games you purchase and install in the cloud? Will it be a subscription like Xbox Game Pass providing a rotating mixture of games, only without the downloads?

Motorola wants to make beautiful wearable devices, has opening for Senior Director of Industrial Design

A recent Motorola job posting hints that the company may be interested in creating a variety of wearable devices in the near future. The company is looking for a Senior Director of Industrial Design for “wearables” with the experience, knowledge and “courage” needed to develop interesting new wearable products. While the job description doesn’t actually mention the sort of wearable devices the company will be working on, the focus is clearly on the buyer of such devices:

Tasker location and network tracking, time card part 2 - Android customization

As a quick recap, last week we built Tasker Tasks that write our log in and log out times to a file, popped up on screen our total time spent for the day and teased further ideas for what to do with, and how to track, our accumulated data. This week we take to Tasker again, we will build two triggers, the first will be a location aware trigger, and the second will look at attaching to a specific WiFi network.

While everyone else moves towards 5.1.1, Nexus 9 finally gets an update to Android 5.0.2

Considering it’s the latest Nexus tablet on the market, one would expect the Nexus 9 to be treated as a high priority when it comes to rolling out new software updates. Unfortunately, that’s far from the case. The Nexus 9 is the only current member of the Nexus family that doesn’t have factory images for at least Android 5.1, and the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 evenrecently received updates to Android 5.

a look at the Chevrolet Volt battery technology

We are still rocking the show floor at Chevrolet’s event. There’s more than enough Android-related products here, but we wanted to shift focus for a minute and take a closer look at other aspects of mobility. The Chevy Volt is known for its electric and gas powered driving capabilities. You heard that right, it uses both electricity and gasoline, but more on that later. Our main concern for now is learning about the battery technology, which does wonders.

Google improved end-to-end security for Android apps that connect to Chrome extensions

Google has added new security functionality for developers that build extensions for the Chrome Browser. TLS/SSL is now supported in the chrome.sockets API. This is great news for Chrome users that love to install productivity and communication extensions on their browser, as it enables the “S” in the HTTPS that you may be familiar with from your standard web browsing. We understand that, until now, extensions have had to rely on websockets or their own encryption techniques to handle secure data transfers.
