The King of Fighters: All Star is coming to Android this year

Mobile developer Netmarble announced today that The King of Fighters: All Star will launch in North America, Latin America, and Europe sometime this year, reported Gematsu. The game launched in July 2018 and November 2018 in Japan and Korea, respectively. Based on SNK’s long-running The King of Fighters series, All Star is a free-to-play action RPG that takes the form of a side-scrolling brawler. You battle waves of enemies, bosses, and rival teams as you complete levels and tournaments with your own team of three fighters, three strikers, and support fighters.

Xiaomi's CyberDog is the company's first step into quadruped robotics

Supplied by Xiaomi TL;DR Xiaomi has announced its first quadruped robot in the form of a mechanical dog. The aptly named CyberDog features a brain by Nvidia, a host of sensors, and servos made by Xiaomi. It also uses open-source algorithms. Xiaomi is giving 1,000 examples of the robot to developers, engineers, and fans, but there’s no word on general availability. After stamping its authority on the smartphone world and announcing its electric cars plans, Xiaomi is jumping head-first into the robotics space.

Huawei has developed a periscope camera set to arrive on one of its Huawei P30 handsets when they’re revealed later this month. The company discussed the camera technology at a meeting during MWC 2019, letting us in on what’s in store for at least one of its phones’ rumored multi-rear camera setups. Periscope lenses can offer mobile devices superior zoom capabilities compared to other, more traditional camera setups. Huawei suggested this periscope lens was its own, not one touted by Chinese competitor Oppo.

Moto X Pure Edition might now be receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update

Update, November 30: It was two months ago when it once more looked like Motorola was rolling out the Android Nougat update for the Moto X Pure Edition; its owners had already encountered one false start, so we were cautious when the update made some scattered appearances in September. Though it transpired that those updates were limited to only a handful of users, we're now fairly certain that it's rolling out proper. Recent comments on Reddit, the XDA forums, and the Lenovo forums (via Android Police) would suggest so, meaning the handset is now receiving what will undoubtedly be its last major update.

LG Pay is shutting down in the US later this year

Hadlee Simons / Android Authority TL;DR It’s official. LG Pay will be shuttered in the US later this year. The news follows LG’s plan to can its mobile division by July. The death of LG Pay will leave LG users without payment support for magnetic stripe readers. LG’s mobile division is almost entirely dead, and we’re now seeing the remaining dominoes fall. The company has now announced the shutdown of its mobile payments service, LG Pay, later this year.

Nest officially merged into Google's hardware division

TL;DR Nest, which has previously operated as an Alphabet subsidiary, will now be merged into Google’s hardware division. Google hopes to combine Nest’s smart thermostat and camera products and services with its own devices. Nest was formed in 2010, and was acquired by Google in 2014 for $3.2 billion. After a couple months of rumors, Google made it official today — Nest, the smart home device company that was previously run as a separate subsidiary to Google’s parent company Alphabet, will now be merged into Google’s internal hardware division.
