Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer will unveil a smartwatch today

Update: Tag Heuer and Fossil have announced at Baselworld that they will release Android Wear devices this year. Read on for more details. Original post: A year ago almost to the day, Google announced Android Wear, a version of Android designed just for smartwatches. Among the several companies that were listed as partners in the announcement, Fossil stood out as the only conventional watchmaker on the list. We haven’t heard anything about Fossil’s Android Wear smartwatch since then, but we do know that Google is at least interested in putting its OS in the body of a more traditional watch.

Android is getting its first full Harvest Moon title this winter

If you’re a fan of the Harvest Moon franchise, you may want to listen up. Earlier today, video game developer Natsume announced that the next title in the Harvest Moon series will make its way to Android devices sometime this winter. The game is called Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories, and will also be made available on the Wii U, PC and iOS devices. Natsume has only brought the Harvest Moon series to Nintendo and Playstation consoles in the past, which means Seeds of Memories is the first (and hopefully not the last) mainland title to come to mobile devices.

Galaxy S4 not getting CyanogenMod support, according to some team members

The Galaxy S4 will hit various markets starting with late April, but it looks like we have some bad news for those of you looking forward to buy the smartphone and customize it with appropriate CyanogenMod ROMs. One developer part of the “Hacksung” team took to xda-developers Forums a few days ago to address development for the Galaxy S4. Here’s what XpLoDWilD said: Nobody at team hacksung (the team behind galaxy s2, note, s3, note2, gtabs… official CM ports) plans to buy it, neither develop for it.

Google in Best Buy? A notable source relays an interesting rumor

Yesterday afternoon, Robert Scoble posted something to his Google+ account that got a lot of people talking. While noting the information he was relaying was simply a rumor, he mentioned that Best Buy was renting out 6,000 sq. ft. of space per store to Google. The purpose, according to Scoble’s source, is for Glass. The validity of this claim is clearly in question, but Scoble makes no overtures about it being truthful or even possible.

Huawei P20 Pro camera is better than any other phone ever

TL;DR DxOMark posted its camera test results for the new Huawei P20 and P20 Plus, and both phones now top its overall list. The Huawei P20 Pro scored a total 109 rating, the highest ever for a mobile phone on the site. The phones also did extremely well for video quality, with the P20 Plus receiving a record 98 score. The Huawei P20 and P20 Pro became official today at Huawei’s event in Paris.

Update, August 31, 2018 (9:23AM PT): And just like that we have the price and release dates for all of the new P20 Pro colorways straight from the mouth of Huawei CEO Richard Yu. As you can see from the embedded presentation slides, the pearl white and aurora shades will be available from September 5 (markets to be confirmed) for both the P20 and P20 Pro priced at 649 euros (~$755) and 899 euros (~$1,046) respectively.

The Moto G5 Plus has a functional design, but it’s more than a little dull. TL;DR Motorola is updating the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus to Android 8.0 Oreo. The update is rolling out in India, Brazil, and Mexico with more regions to follow. Though they’re still within the two-year release window, it isn’t clear whether they will receive Android Pie later. Motorola is rolling out Android 8.

Google Play update brings in-app purchases indicator, improved social integration

Google is rolling out a new version of its Play Store app that brings many social integration features and design tweaks. One interesting new feature is the in-app purchases indicator that warns you that the app you are visualizing uses IAPs for monetization. Having advanced warning about IAPs should come handy to parents looking for safe apps for their kids or users that simply dislike freemium apps.
