The GooPhone One is an exact replica of the unreleased HTC One

GooPhone’s done it again. What do you mean, what? Have you already forgotten about the I5, the incredibly accurate iPhone 5 copycat unveiled before Apple’s latest? We haven’t, which is why we couldn’t help but chuckle when spotting the newest GooPhone clone. Chuckle and then bring it to your attention, naturally. Meet the GooPhone One, an exact replica (we think) of the still unreleased HTC One, previously known as the M7.

Why custom imaging chips are the next mobile photography battleground

Robert Triggs / Android Authority Photography prowess sells smartphones. In fact, it’s probably the biggest product differentiator in the market right now and has been for some years. Experimenting with different camera setups has produced the most robust and gimmicky photography packages in equal quantities, but the next smartphone photography war looks set to be fought on the image processing front. Chinese brands Vivo and Xiaomi are pushing into the market with in-house image signal processing (ISP) technology to augment the pre-bundled component you’ll find inside a phone’s system on a chip (SoC).

120Hz AMOLED, Snapdragon 855 Plus, and a 6,000mAh battery

If you thought Asus’ original gamer-centric ROG Phone was a one-and-done deal, think again. Today, the company officially took the wraps off of the ROG Phone 2, which gives a new definition to the word “overkill.” The ROG Phone 2 is the first Android phone to feature a 120Hz AMOLED panel, which stretches to 6.59 inches on the diagonal. The higher refresh rate allows for incredibly smooth animations in theory, but it can be a battery hog.

Moto Mods will be supported for at least 3 years, 12 new this year

The idea of a modular phone has beenfloating around for a few years now, but in more recent times we’ve seen a couple manufacturers attempt to bring the tech to their flagship phones. Most notably, LG and Motorola. The LG G5 was the first commercial phone to offer a modular design. Unfortunately, LG didn’t do the best job of supporting the standard and, afterjust two mods, pretty much ended the concept.

'Magic: The Gathering - Puzzle Quest' game coming to mobile

Are you a fan of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game? I still remember collecting those cards and battling it out with my friends during lunch. Those who were (or are) also part of the Magic club will love to hear today’s news. Wizards of the Coast has partnered with D3 Go! to release a new game. The moniker is a bit confusing, but here it goes. The new app will go by the name of “Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest”.

LG announces the Optimus LTE2, to hit Korea soon with 2 GB of RAM

Just as Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S3 in front of a huge online and offline audience, LG made a similar announcement that for some reason, went unnoticed. LG wants some attention, folks. The Optimus LTE2 is the most recent monster phone to come from one of Samsung’s longstanding competitors and, while some technical details about the device are still blurry, what we do know makes us think that this could actually be at least as powerful and cool as the Galaxy S3.

Samsung Gear and Android Pie don't play nice together yet (Updated)

SDG Systems unveils "bulletproof" Android-based Rampage 6 notepad

There are those who look for the best possible performance from their smartphone or tablet. There are those who want the most elegant, the thinnest and lightest gadgets. Devices with high-res screens have themselves their share of fans, no matter if they come with the best hardware or not. Finally, there are (a couple of) people who couldn’t care less about performance, portability or display clarity, but put a very big price on sturdiness and ruggedness.

Telegram, Signal were popular even before WhatsApp crashed

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority The planet came to a grinding halt last week as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram all went offline. The issue was caused by a troublesome configuration change, a blip that might’ve cost Facebook and its properties big in terms of revenue and users. Telegram announced soon after that it added 70 million users to its ranks in the wake of the crash, and we imagine other WhatsApp rivals like Signal also onboarded their fair share.

Google, it's high time for split screen to come to stock Android

Google has done a pretty good job of rolling useful features into each new Android version, but there are times when it seems to lag behind. Stock Android is an excellent platform now and it’s becoming harder for OEMs to add a great deal of value with their UIs, but there are still standard inclusions that everyone agrees are desirable that are missing from Android, and a split screen option is one of them.
