Introducing the Font of Ice Cream Sandwich - Roboto

With the introduction of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the Galaxy Nexus, there’s quite a few things to take in. Google has really worked on getting a UI that will appeal to those that happen to interact with an Ice Cream Sandwich device for the first time – ardent Android fans or not. One of the things they plan on doing that with is called Roboto. Unlike anything new you would expect from a new software update, or rather, upgrade, as we would say – quite simply, Roboto is a font.

Rumors of Amazon Smartphone surface again

The rumors about a possible smartphone from Amazon are, if anything, persistent. As far back as 2012 there were rumblings from Bloomberg that Amazon was developing a smartphone that was to be manufactured by Foxconn, the same Chinese company that also makes Apple’s iPhone. Bloomberg’s assertions where later bolstered by the Wall Street Journal saying that its sources reckon the phone would be released in early 2013. Early 2013 came and went, as did late 2013 and early 2014.

The best Panasonic apps for Android

Panasonic is a fairly diverse electronics company. We initially wanted this list to be for Lumix owners much like our Nikon and Canon app lists were. However, Panasonic makes a lot more stuff than just cameras. The good news is you can easily find Panasonic stuff online. The bad news is the relative lack of apps for Panasonic’s products. For the most part, your best bet is the official app for most of this stuff.

AT&T's Upgrade Fee Doubling Starting this Sunday

Ok, don’t get to upset. It’s not that much money, AT&T is basically changing their upgrade fee from $18 to $36. Yes it is a 100% increase but it still isn’t all that bad. At least the Early Termination Fee isn’t doubling, now that would be a nightmare since it’s already $350.Here is what an AT&T Spokeswoman told Android Central regarding the matter: Wireless devices today are more sophisticated than ever before.

Google confirms the Pixel 6 won't ship with a charger in the box

TL;DR Neither the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro will come with a charging adapter. The Pixel 5a will be the last Pixel phone to bundle one. Google claims most people already have a compatible USB-C brick. Google has confirmed plans to skip bundling a charging adapter with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, joining other major smartphone makers in the trend. The upcoming Pixel 5a should be the last Pixel device to include a brick, The Verge reports Google as saying.

HTC launches One M8s, a Snapdragon 615-powered version of last year’s M8

Here’s an interesting development: hot on the heels of the release of the One M9, HTC is introducing a One M8-lookalike with slightly tweaked specs. Launched today in Europe, the new HTC One M8s looks identical to the One M8 on the outside, sporting the same metallic construction, BoomSound speakers, and Duo Camera setup. The device is available in silver, gold and gunmetal (no two-tone like on the M9) and is the same size with the M8.

We go hands on and give you a quick look at the Alcatel U5, A3, and A5 LED! Alcatel U5Starting with the Alcatel U5, the device features decidedly low-end specifications, including a 5-inch display with a 480 x 854, a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of on-board storage, microSD card support, and a 2,050 mAh battery.

Meet Motorola Skip, the Moto X NFC-based unlock accessory

The Moto X has one more trick up its sleeve, a NFC-based unlocked accessory that can be worn by the user in order to unlock the handset with a single tap – meet the Motorola Skip. The accessory has been quietly listed on Motorola’s website, where it can be ordered from for $19.99. The device appears as a “limited time offer for MotoMaker for Moto X, a $19.99 value,” but we don’t have any idea what this means.

Verizon Moto X to get MotoMaker later, bloatware present from launch

The Moto X will launch with various U.S. carriers starting with late August, although not all Moto X offers from mobile operators will be similar at launch. However, that MotoMaker customization feature will come to other mobile operators later, with Verizon already having confirmed via Twitter that it will offer the feature to its subscribers later this year: Considering that the handset will launch in late August / early September in the USA, that means that AT&T will have a very short exclusive Moto X offer.
