Nokia Maps rebranded as Here, coming to Android and iOS

Disappointed by the iPhone’s map functionality? Then here comes some  respite. Nokia has announced its latest strategy pertaining to its trademark Nokia Maps service by re-branding it as “Here” and launching beyond the Windows Phone platform. Here will come to iPhone/iOS as a dedicated maps app, whereas Android will get an open source developers kit, so that developers can use Here data on native maps applications. Here will also feature a web-version supporting Firefox OS in the coming year.

With Nintendo already having released Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes, there was plenty of anticipation surrounding the company’s third mobile title, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. With the game now out for almost a full week, it looks as if Pocket Camp is off to a good start with an estimated 15 million downloads worldwide. By comparison, Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes amassed 32 million and 7 million downloads, respectively, during their first six days of availability, according to SensorTower’s data.

Android 4.3 update starts rolling out for Sony Xperia T, TX, V and SP

Aside from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and all the expected changes that come with it, there’s also many Sony-specific goodies including updates to Messaging, Smart Connect, Track ID and Sony Select. OnePlus celebrates premium sales lead in India with dig at Apple

The research firm recently issued their quarterly market analysis report for India, covering sales and shipment figures for smartphone manufacturers. According to the report, OnePlus managed to capture a 36 percent share of the premium smartphone market in India for Q4 2018. This is the third consecutive quarter where the company has led market shipments. To celebrate their win, OnePlus posted a tweet that invokes Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, to ask about the best selling premium smartphone in India.
