Motorola slider for Sprint leaked, could it be the Photon Q 4G LTE?

We’ve been telling you for a long time how much we’d love to see a smartphone with a full-sized slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a dual-core S4 or quad-core proc, and Android 4.0 ICS, but, much to our desperation, nobody seems to be listening to our desires. Or nobody seemed to be listening, because we’ve just picked up a leak on a mysterious Motorola handheld that could well fit the bill. The phone, if real, will be surely hitting Sprint soon enough, but other than that and the fact that it will come with a 5-row QWERTY keyboard, we can’t say nothing for sure right now.

Niantic's follow up to Pokémon Go could incorporate audio cues

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last 15 months, you’re probably well acquainted with Pokémon Go by now. The Augmented Reality game is one of the biggest mobile titles ever to grace the Play Store. Niantic, the company behind the game, is now dropping some hints at what its next title might look like. Instead of asking players to walk around with their phone in front of their face, Niantic may look to include audio cues instead.

Eric Schmidt teases new Motorola phone

Eric Schmidt, Google’s chairman, speaks during a press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 in New York, where Motorola introduced three new smartphones, the first since it became a a part of Google. (AP Photo/Bebeto Matthews) Eric Schmidt, our favorite Google Executive Chairman, is usually not one for cautious statements. Back in 2011, he predicted Android would be bigger than iOS, a very brash statement at the time. Recently, he has said the entire world will be online in 7 years’ time, which seems inconceivable right now considering conditions in some countries.

Is Samsung right to move away from Qualcomm?

By the time that Samsung actually unveiled the Galaxy S6 at MWC in Barcelona we already knew that it wasn’t going to have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor inside. Instead Samsung decided to go with its own in-house Exynos 7420 SoC. This decision prompted a lot of speculation about Samsung’s motives, and inevitably had a negative impact on Qualcomm. Was Samsung really switching because of overheating issues, as the rumor suggested? Was it looking to reduce dependence on suppliers?

Llama Llama Spit Spit is a new game based on Nickelodeon's Game Shakers

If you are a parent and have pre-teen or early teenaged children, they might already be fans of Game Shakers, a live-action sitcom on the Nickelodeon TV network. The premise of the show is that two 7th grade kids make their own video game for a school project, and it become so successful that they form their own game development studio. This week, Nickelodeon released Llama Llama Spit Spit for Android in the Google Play Store.

Microsoft earned $800 million revenue from Android in 2Q 2012

It’s no surprise that Microsoft is earning royalties from each Android device sold; at least from manufacturers it has licensing agreements with. What’s quite concerning is how Microsoft earns significantly more from Android than its own home-grown mobile operating system, Windows Phone. $792 million in three months is no chump change, even for a company that has reported earnings of $18.06 billion in its fourth fiscal quarter of 2012 from Windows, Office and other software and hardware businesses.

Samsung Galaxy S8 system dump makes its way online

A system dump from the Samsung Galaxy S8 has made its way online, including all of the device’s app, priv-app and media folders. The 1.11 GB folder was uploaded by a member of the XDA Developers forums a few hours ago and it appears that some of the forum-goers have already tested some of the apps on their devices. Many of these apps don’t require root to install, including Messaging, Clock, Video, My Files, Galaxy Apps, Samsung Account, and Samsung Cloud.

The list of most downloaded apps from the Play Store may surprise you

Digital Inspiration has extracted data from the Play Store to find the most downloaded apps, as well as which have the most reviews. The data, which can show both a heavy Google lean and which services are independently popular, is pretty interesting for consumers. Of the most downloaded apps — those which are on 500 million to one billion devices — only Facebook cracks the top five, and it comes in behind four Google services.
