Motorola Moto G8, G8 Power, G8 Stylus renders leaked

Update, February 6, 2020 (3:38 PM ET): Thanks to leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks), we just caught a possible glimpse of the entire upcoming Motorola G8 lineup. This is the second design leak we’ve seen regarding these handsets. Blass’ image of the vanilla G8 backs up the previously leaked render as seen in the article below. These pictures give us a look at both the front and back of the apparent Moto G8, G8 Power, and G8 Stylus.

Ubuntu installer for Nexus 7 released by Canonical

Canonical, the company that develops Ubuntu, has made it clear that it set its target on mobile devices, working to make the Linux distribution as mobile-friendly as possible. Among other initiatives, Canonical has made the Google Nexus 7 a reference device for Ubuntu, to help developers optimize the distro for ARM touch-based devices. Now, Canonical has released a tool to help users and developers easily install a full version of Ubuntu on the Nexus 7.

Tim Cook unimpressed by Chromebook's lead in schools

Google’s Chromebooks may have come under fire from student privacy groups recently, but there’s no denying that the push into the education sector has been a success for the company. Apple’s Tim Cook certainly didn’t seem very happy about Google’s lead in the classroom during a recently interview with Buzzfeed. He avoided mentioning the Chromebook by name, but stated that the low cost computers used in schools were only proving popular because they were the cheapest option around for testing students.

Amazon refreshes their Silk browser, bringing a fresh interface and updated features

Today, Amazon announces an update to their Silk browser. Available on their Kindle line of tablets, the browser is closely tied into Amazon’s ecosystem, as well as giving users a sleek way to browse the web. In anticipation of their new lines of Kindle devices, Amazon has tweaked Silk to make it a bit more intuitive and easy to use. While much of the features are available on other browsers, Amazon’s choice to bring some to the forefront is interesting.

Chromecast rooted, apparently runs Android from Google TV, not Chrome OS

Unsurprisingly, the Chromecast has been rooted by a team of hackers who were apparently able to reveal that the device runs rather Android than Chrome OS, or better said a “modified Google TV release.” Initially, Google said the device runs a stripped-down version of Chrome OS, but the GTVHacker crew thinks otherwise: [quote qtext=”No, it’s not. New Disney Plus Star Wars shows on the way

TL;DR Disney Plus has plans for lots of new Star Wars shows over the next few years. They include two new spin-offs from The Mandalorian, Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka. More shows include one on Lando Calrissian and a series of shorts made by Japanese anime creators. The spin-off shows will be called Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic and Star Wars: Ahsoka. Details about the series have yet to be revealed, although Rosario Dawson, who played the Jedi Ahsoka in season two of The Mandalorian, will return in that same role in the spin-off series.
