Moment’s various smartphone lenses are tons of fun. If you’re a pro photographer, you probably have a whole slew of professional DSLR lenses in your gear bag, but amateurs (and pros looking to travel light) can get a lot out of these snap-on pieces of glass. The newest lens in the line is the Moment Fisheye 14mm. As one would expect, the new lens creates a distorted effect by increasing your smartphone camera’s field-of-view to an insane degree (170 degrees, to be exact).

UltraCast technology from MediaTek streams 4K video from smartphone to TV

4K video is the latest buss word in technology and streaming media, and today MediaTek announced new technology that will offer a faster way to stream 4K video from a smartphone to a 4K-ready television or to a supported TV set-top box.  The technology is called UltraCast and it will be available on its MediaTek Helio smartphone processors, along with the company’s 4K Ultra HDTV chipsets. Sony brings Alexa support to its Android TV lineup

Sony’s TVs just got a lot more interesting. The company has teamed up with Amazon by bringing Alexa support to quite a few televisions it has on offer. What this means is that you can now control Sony’s Android TVs with Alexa-powered devices such as the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show. The feature is currently in beta and allows you to control certain functionalities with voice commands. You can turn the TV on or off, change the channel by number or name, control the volume, change input, and control playback for DVR or streaming content.

YouTube gets a brand new logo and a new look for both mobile and desktop

Google and YouTube are making some major design changes for both its mobile and desktop apps. However, the biggest change of all is an all new logo for the online video service. As you can see above, the logo ditches the red color inside the “Tube” part of the name, and places the now familiar play icon to the left side of the YouTube name. Google says the change allows the YouTube logo to work better “across a variety of devices, even on the tiniest screens”.

Motorola also has a new over-the-air charging solution like Mi Air Charge

TL;DR Motorola has announced a new over-the-air charging solution. It is capable of charging a device placed 1m away. The tech could appear on future Edge series Motorola phones. It seems like over-the-air charging will be the new smartphone trend for 2021. Xiaomi just detailed its Mi Air Charge technology today and now Motorola has also jumped on the bandwagon. Moto’s air-to-air charging solution was announced by Lenovo China’s General Manager Chen Jin on Weibo (h/t XDA Developers).

LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition OTA of Android 5.0 Lollipop rolling out

The Google Play Edition of the LG G Pad 8.3 is now receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update. Your typical rollout schedule is in place, so it may be a few days before it lands on your G Pad, but you can celebrate that you are the first GPE device to receive the Lollipop update. It appears the update runs a little over 400MB and requires that you have another one hundred MB of free internal storage beyond that to make the install.
