Self-repair programs aren't a right-to-repair victory

Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority Samsung and Google made headlines last week after announcing that they would follow Apple’s lead with their own self-repair programs and would sell smartphone components directly to end-users. Better yet, both companies have partnered with iFixit — a reputable source of repair guides and smartphone spare parts. While this may sound like a victory for the right-to-repair movement, the unfortunate reality is that these programs aren’t as user-centric as they seem on the surface.

CooTek’s TouchPal AI-powered keyboard is a gamechanger

For a long time, the keyboard mobile app market has been dominated by fairly straightforward, serviceable interfaces. Keyboards are simple things, after all, and most attempts to reinvent the wheel by bringing along a bit of pizazz have resulted in clutter rather than increased functionality. But now CooTek has launched a seriously upgraded keyboard application TouchPal that may just become many people’s go-to option. TouchPal is perhaps the smartest keyboard we’ve ever seen.

HTC 10 Sense UI - Feature focus

One of the biggest and longest running problems with OEM skins is how heavy and bloated they feel, and while Samsung and LG have made pretty good strides with regards to streamlining their respective software experiences, no one has done a better job with that than HTC. HTC’s Sense UI has always been one of the favorites when it comes to custom OEM interfaces, and while early versions of the Sense UI did have its problems, HTC has made some noticeable improvements over the years, leading to the best version of the Sense UI yet, as seen with the HTC 10.

OnePlus One with a Pie-based ROM: Does it change much?

Recently, I did a week-long experiment where I exclusively used a OnePlus One as my daily driver in an effort to see how the device has held up over the years. As part of that experiment, I used the device running the last official ROM available, which is based on Android 5 Lollipop. Although I preemptively noted in the article that this might ruffle some feathers for Android Authority readers, I did it that way for a reason.
