Purported Galaxy Note 3 image and lockscreen wallpaper spotted

Two distinct sources have provided new Galaxy Note 3 images, one reportedly showing an actual image of the upcoming smartphone and the other reportedly being the actual lockscreen wallpaper of the phone. We have the same round corners as in those front panel pictures – although the overall shape is rather square – the same home button placement and front speaker, and the same slim bezels. Even a Samsung logo is almost visible.

Samsung Galaxy S8 gets Android Pie stable update in select EU nations

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is arguably one of Samsung’s best phones ever, bringing an ergonomic design, gorgeous screen, and a very capable main camera. It seems like the company hasn’t forgotten about it though, as a stable version of Android Pie is apparently hitting devices in Europe. The OTA is rolling out to some users in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands, according to a thread on the Galaxy S8 subreddit.

Waze could be pre-installed in your next device

Back in 2013 Google acquired navigation app Waze, keeping it separate from Google Maps, though it utilized some of Waze’s tech to help improve the Map experience. Waze remains an excellent service today, one that Google would do well to further promote. After all, the more people using Waze, the more information users (and Google) have about traffic hazards, blocked roads and other traffic-related data. With all this in mind, it seems that Waze could see itself pushed onto many more devices right out of the box, as Google has now officially announced that the app is part of Google Mobile Services.

Android N code hints at "freeform windows" mode like Remix OS

You know how Android repeatedly absorbs good ideas from third-party developers and OEMs into stock Android? Like floating notifications, the kill switch, lockscreen notifications, dark theme, split screen, granular app permissions and power saving modes? Well, it looks like one Android N feature we might be seeing in the near future will borrow an awful lot from Remix OS: freeform windows. Evidence of the feature was uncovered in the Android N code by Ars Technica and it seems to indicate that Google has plans to step up its multi-window game by offering an “experimental freeform windows” mode in a future release.

Rage of Bahamut shows that Android apps can make just as much money as on iOS

We’ve heard plenty of times in the past about how Android doesn’t make as much money for developers as iOS, and some examples raised valid points, like the fact that there are not as many Google Wallet/Checkout users as there are iTunes account users. Therefore in theory, fewer people bother to pay for an app. There were also some very misleading ones that used data from 2010, when Android was still much smaller in quarterly sales, but even more importantly in total user base, and the data used is somehow supposed to prove that Android is not making money for developers now.
